Has anyone else been watching the new(?) show 'My cat from Hell' on animal planet? What do you think about it?

I don't have the channel so I've had someone download few episoded for me. I'm not sure how long it's been on.

It seems odd how clueless people on the show seem to be about things that are clear as a daylight to probably all of us on here. And that woman who didn't want litter boxes in her apartment and only had one hidden somewhere, she had 3 cats..

But I'm glad if the show helps cat owners and I plan on watching it in the future as well. It's nice to see a tv-show about cats when I'm used to only seeing dog shows. So far this show (I've seen 3 episodes) hasn't even given any false information unlike the 'Cats 101' seemed to do (in the episodes I saw).

I caught a couple of episodes. I agree with you, the owners were pretty clueless, but at least they were willing to work with the guy to improve their cat's life.

He did use a lot of the tricks that us long timers already know: plenty of litter boxes, vertical space to give them confidence, and eye blinkies to build a relationship. I didn't see anything that he did wrong, which is a very good thing. I hope the show catches on and more people start to educate themselves.

Wish the show would go "international". It would reach more clueless people worldwide.

In Asia, we have Animal Planet and only recently they're showing Must Love Cats and Cats 101. Hopefully, Cats From Hell will come out soon.

I only saw the first 3 or so episodes month ago; we haven't seen it listed since then (we dvr'ed it, and have it saved to record).

I watched it. I don't know when it's coming back on. I thought the show was good. At least the people were willing to try with their cats

Where was this show when some people I know had crazy cats? One woman I knew had to have her cat put down because it attacked her so bad, it looked like she was in a fight with a bunch of razor blades.

I don't understand why some of the people insist on holding their cats when they know the cat doesn't like it. One guy had the cat on its back and every time the cat flipped out...Why keep doing it?

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I personally dont like the show because it irritates the bejeepers out of me. The concept I like but I deal with people who act like this irl and its annoying because I tell them the same things the guy does but the people I know are down right stupid and ignorant. I hope that the people who are on the show stick with what the guy does for them because to me its common sense not some random mystery to be figured out.

I don't get cable TV but have heard of the show and heard it is good. I wouldn't watch it even if I did, because I never watch shows about animals, it is too upsetting.

But I strongly dislike the title of this show. Cats are innocent animals and I resent the implication that they can be evil in any way. A cat with behavior problems is not evil. S/he either has been abused, raised wrong, is sick, has some other stress, or has messed up wiring (genetics).

Cats come from heaven, not hell.

Episodes of this show are on now, this Saturday afternoon, on Animal Planet channel in the U.S.

I think the show is great because it can educate thousands of clueless cat owners.

The title is meant to be ironic as the cats are shown to not be at fault. It's the people who need the training.

I'm watching it this afternoon too! I think it's a great show for people who watch AP but might not be familiar with cats. Jackson stresses that when people are having problems with their cat, it's the human behavior that needs to be adjusted, not the cat's behavior. I love seeing this big, bald, tatooed rocker guy come in and have cats just gravitate to him and just love him immediately. It really dispels the myth that cats are only for lonely middle-aged women.

He doesn't like when cats are not allowed in bedrooms, he really pushes for vertical space, that you can't approach a cat but let the cat come to you to let you know how they want you to show them love, etc. I think a lot of us believe this is common sense, but before I got Holland and started studying cat behavior, I didn't know a lot of this stuff!

So it's akin to the Dog Whisperer? Love that show btw.
He does such good work educating people about how American Pit Bulls aren't necessarily vicious and evil dogs, they just need a firm hand and good training, like oh I don't know any other dog on earth.

I've never seen The Dog Whisperer, but from what I know of it, it sounds like the same kind of thing. This guy just really knows cat behavior. He said that he feels people are usually surprised when he comes in and wants to talk to them before meeting the cat. Then he explained that it's because he wants the cat to hear his voice, and that even if he can't see the cat, the cat can hear him. When he introduces himself to the cats, he lets them sniff his glasses, since they have his scent all over them. I like how he calls the humans "cat guardians" and not "cat owners".

It's like the "Dog Whisperer" show in that both guys turn around the situation for the animals and people almost miraculously, and that they both train the people, really, not the animals. But the approaches are entirely different, of course, because felines and canines are so entirely different. They help the people understand their pets, and lead them to give the pets what they need so they can be more secure, happier, and much better behaved.

I just hope the people keep it all up,

Another show like this is "It's Me Or The Dog." I think these provocative titles are meant to get people to tune in the first time to check it out.

Its not on caliber of the Dog Whisperer show.

It doesn't have the excitement factor of a big dangerous aggressive dog and the emotional issues of the cats to date for example have never been as severe, at least that i can tell, with some of the dogs that Cesar has rehabilitated.

Cesar also just has a kind of charisma that I think adds entertainment value to the show, and overall I just think his hands on approach and attention to detail is really educational. The dogs help too as dogs tend to be very extreme and outgoing with their personalities and emotion, whereas cats are usually more subtle and become withdrawn when there are a bunch of strangers in their territory shining lights and pointing weird devices at them which just isn't as exciting for TV.

Never the less, it is entertaining to watch, but I just don't feel like I'm on the edge of my seat or ever learn something new whereas I learned a lot from Cesar over the years.

Cesar Milan is a compelling personality. Or at least he has learned to be one over the years. And I have watched his show, occasionally, over all the years it had been on. If I had a dog, or intended to have a dog at some point in the future, I'm sure I'd learn a lot from him.

But, I'm far, far, far more interested in cats. For people who don't frequent cat forums, this cat show is a way to get a lot of information on how to provide a good home for cats. We know from reading here that a lot of people with cats need to know more. And as a shelter volunteer, I really know the need for educational shows like this, to keep more people happy living with their cats - and to prevent more cats from being brought to shelters.

In my area I have seen the whole series. It is something like the "dog whisperer" for cats. Not that bad, IMO.
