Does a 6/7 month kitten really need kitten food?

I am out of kitten food for Picasso, and been out for about a month. She's around 6-7 months old now. Is it really necessary to feed her specified kitten food at this point on? She's eating all of her wet food (1 can a day) and eats all the dry food for the day.

I have a LOT of adult food (dry-buffalo Blue Wilderness mixed with Kirkland hairball brand, wet- Soulistic chicken and Trader Joe's chicken and turkey) and money is a tad tight to buy extra food at this point.

Since you have such a good and healthy diet (in my humble opinion) available to your adolescent cat, I do not feel kitten food is necessary. But most cats are considered "adult" by one year of age.

As always if you are very concerned speak to a licensed veterinarian you trust. Since the "information" provided is just my personal opinion based on my experiences.

If you are feeding Blue, Soulistic and Trader Joe's food, you are already feeding her better than if you gave her Iams, Hills or Eukanuba kitten food, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Aside from some micronutrients, Wilderness is probably richer in protein and fat than many kitten foods, so I wouldn't worry too much. For wet food, a rich inexpensive one is the 13.2 oz Innova Cat + Kitten which is only $1.75 a can. Win!
