Stinky Breath

Okay Chacho has some of the stinkiest breath ever! I'm not sure what else I can do. I've had kittens that has gone though the stage of loosing baby teeth and Chacho's stinky breath beats all of them by a mile I've been giving him Greenies but Greenies are more for taking care of tartar and gum health. My family and my vet seems to have a theory that it's because he's loosing some of his baby teeth so there's just more bacteria in his mouth. It makes since but as I stated before, I've gone through this stage with other kittens before and none of them had this bad of breathe. I mean, its so stinky that if I'm laying down on the couch with him laying on my legs and he yawns I can smell it pretty clearly. It darn makes you gag if he's snuggling up close to your face when he yawns. It doesn't smell of anything really rotten or anything, just has very bad "cat food" breath. When I'm in a good position, I try to peek inside his mouth when he yawns. His teeth look nice and clean but the gum line in some places seem pretty red to me. For all I know this could be normal and my vet seems to think so even though he never really looked at his teeth.
If anyone has any advice on what could help his stinky breath or what could be the cause besides just loosing teeth please let me know

I'm going through the same thing right now. I have a 5 1/2 month old whose breath REEKS. I've had other kittens who've teethed and definitely didn't stink as bad as him! One thing you may want to try that really helped for me is a baking soda rinse. I just mixed about a teaspoon of baking soda with a little water and dipped a Q tip in it. I then grabbed Oscar by the scruff and held his mouth open and went over every part of his mouth with the Q tip (including the tongue and roof). I really focused on the gums and teeth. It helped quite a bit...he's still a little stinky, but not "smells so bad it slaps you in the face" stinky. I've also heard the baking soda eases the discomfort for kitty too. Something to try...

If I'm remembering right, stinky breath can not only be a sign of illness, but it can also mean digestive issues (ie food not agreeing w/ the kitty). If he wasn't a kitten I'd suggest he may potentially need a dental cleaning.

Is it possible the kitty might have a bit of acid reflux? That can definitely cause bad breath.

If you feed kibble, you can try a feeder ball to slow their roll, and for wet food put it on a platform so it sits a bit higher and feed a little bit smaller amounts of a simple chicken and rice type formula.

Wait a minute, your vet hasn't looked at the cat's teeth?
If the gums are red, he may have some type of infection. Under a good light, look in his mouth & see if there are any sores or perhaps a bit of decaying food trapped between the teeth.
Otherwise, it could be an intestinal issue, as others suggested.

I've looked at his teeth myself several times since I've got him. His teeth and gums are nice looking. The only places on his gums that have ever been red has been the areas where he has just lost a baby tooth from. His teeth have always been clean minus maybe tiny signs of tartar but they're overall nice and white.

He eats pretty slow unless I'm late feeding him and his food doesn't seem to bother him. His stool is nicely formed, soft but not runny. We've been having issues with him eating yarn but we're pretty sure we found his stash that he keeps eating so stool with yarn in it should be disappearing now.

His breathe has gotten a lot better since he's stopped loosing teeth. At least now I don't about gag when he yawns on me. Since his breath has gotten a lot better since he's stopped loosing teeth then I'm pretty sure it was because of his baby teeth.
