JoJo and Portia... nearly a year later.

After Jack died a year ago, I tried doing the whole only cat thing with JoJo, and as most here who remember, that didn't last long. Although JoJo probably wouldn't admit it publicly, she wanted a companion. So, I adopted Portia on October 30th last year. I can now say, with nearly a year behind us, that the whole myth of two girls not getting along is just that... a myth. I wasn't sure she could handle having a sister, and she still gets hissy and bratty at times, but usually it's when she's not feeling 100%. She is nearly 10 and all... she's allowed to be a grumpy old brat.

I took these three pics just a few minutes ago... I've even seen them with paws/tails/etc touching, but no camera within reach.

Yeah... it was the 5th of october. I remember because it was right after my birthday, and the evening I took him to the vet I had been working, got home, saw he hadn't really moved, called and walked him over there, then my sister and her boyfriend were taking me out for a belated birthday dinner... they were only in town a couple of evenings. The next morning, still boiling from my evening with them, I made the decision to let Jack go. He hadn't improved, and his kidneys were shutting down... he was ready. It still hurts, but I know he's watching over us. I swear he's been teaching Portia some of his tricks and quirks. I can also feel 'someone' at times when I'm laying on the bed, but I look up, and neither girl is there.

I'm still a little surprised that JoJo is so much more polite to Portia. She has her moments, but mostly she's okay with P. She gets more angsty before meals. After meals, however, all bets are off and it's playtime.

I'll post more pics later... especially if I can catch them in the act of touching each other...

Indeed they are beautiful furrballs. Looking forward to reading and seeing more of these two little ladies. Hope you can keep the camera close at hand all the time. We'll be lking for more pix whenever.

A couple nights ago, Portia jumped up on my lap and settled in. JoJo wasn't around, as she was already waiting for me to close everything down and go to bed... she was keeping my bed warm... so I got the camera out and took a bunch of awkward pictures. I haven't downloaded them yet onto the computer, but likely tomorrow. It's nice that she's getting comfy here... enough to curl up in my lap for a purring session.

They're gorgeous! Glad to see they are getting along just fine.

I really can't believe it's been a year since Jack died myself. Seems like just yesterday.

I would swear that if Portia weren't the age she is (half of JoJo's age... who's nearly 10 now), she was a reincarnation of Jack. She destroys anything cardboard or paper, along with several other quirks of his... one difference is that she does the butt wiggle when she's about to pounce... Jack never did it, and JoJo doesn't... never has. of course, JoJo doesn't pounce on something... her crazy moments are usually her sitting in one spot, yowling, then taking off like a bat out of hades...

I took some video of Portia this morning being silly with the RDoD (Red Dot of Doom) ... although that wasn't my initial reason for grabbing the camera. She was chewing on a box from Amazon and being all around adorable.... but as soon as the camera came out... CORD!!! MUST HAVE CORD!!! DANGLY THING!!

She's nuts, I tell ya, nuts. Okay, I'll go upload the lap pictures from a few nights ago...
