Plan to have the house painted in November. Now the question is "what color". It's a peach color now with white trim. Plan to go for a darker earth tone color. Looked at one called Mocha, but I have a feeling it's going to be too dark. Also here in Florida the sun tends to fade colors. Found a pretty tan color, with sort of a pink tone to it (kind of like a light coffee with cream color) that might work. Just curious -- what color is your house? I talked with the painter who will do the job and he said that if out gut feeling was that Mocha would be too dark that we should stick to that feeling and go with a lighter color. The trim will be white. What do you think?

The lighter color sounds nice with crisp white trim, i can see fading happening like you said.

I'm a bit of an hgtv nerd so i love talking paint colors! lol also if you have shutters or any type of extra molding around your home you can use that to add a nice mocha or brown color\t

There are many Victorian heritage houses here, and I'm always surprised at how well some of the color combinations work (not just for Victorian houses). Usually it's 3 colors that you wouldn't think to put together, sometimes it's 4 or more (if there's lots of gingerbread and details). Separately, you might not pick those colors, but together they look very professional and unusually pretty.

You might want to check out some pre-coordinated outside house colors that are already grouped together by different paint companies. They turn out very beautiful! Hope you have fun deciding on the colors.

There is a Victorian-era house in town that is painted eggplant with several lighter colors around trim, shutters, etc. Don't laugh....that house is just gorgeous.

My sister has an circa late 1800s house that is done in a light brown, almost tan with hunter green trim and shutters. That's really pretty.

A dark color would look nice if the trim and shutters were painted a lighter color for contrast. But yes, fading would be an issue, Lana, esp in Florida.

Our house is blue with white trim and black shutters. I'm not particularly happy with the color and would have to have new siding installed.
