A few years ago we tried to get Snowball to play with a lazer light without success, so we gave up. Recently, I decided to try again. I got a new lazer light today and got it out to play with Snowball. First, I tried to play with him in a room with regular lighting, he seemed to see the light at least a little, and would walk toward it, but wouldn't play. Next, I tried to get him to play in a darkened room and the results weren't any better. Finally, I tried moving the light back and forth in front of him and he completely ignored it. Does anyone have any ideas??????

Whoops!!!!
I meant to say lazer pointer, not lazer light. And Snowball won't chase the little red dot around.

There's no place like home
Not all of my cats will play with a lazer pointer either. Some go absolutely wild, even to the point that they will wander the house for an hour after "light-out" to find it. Others will yawn, roll over and go to sleep.

Your Snowball might just be in the latter category.

Teresa, Snowball likes playing with his wand toy, and we also have a thin rope that we sometimes use to play with him. He will leap in the air to catch it, and will also pounce on it while we move it around on the floor.

I got out Snowball's wand toy which he absolutely LOVES,
and when I tried to play with him, he ingored THAT too!!!! Weird!!!!!
Do cats usually lose interest in chasing objects when they reach Snowball's age? He will be 12 years old next month.

ChiChi (at my parents house) is 14 and she still loves to play with her peacock feather.

I'm apprehensive about using a laser light. I think if the cat looks directly at the light her eyes can be damaged. I know it's harmful for humans to look directly at laser lights.

I'm always very careful about where I direct the light, and make sure Snowball never looks directly into it.
