What new fall shows is everyone watching?

I'm watching The Secret Circle, Terra Nova, and Unforgettable. I plan to watch American Horror Story, Grimm and Once Upon A Time when they start up.

I've decided my two new favorites are Terra Nova and Person of Interest. Good acting, slightly different twists to make the shows interesting.

I'm a big fan of Stephen Lang (Terra Nova) and I love the two guys on Person of Interest (Michael Emerson and Jim Caviezel). In fact, Jim Caviezel is pretty hot.

I might be able to get into A Gifted Man, I have to give it another shot tonight.

I haven't tried any of the new shows yet.

Do you like the Secret Circle? I found the Secret Circle books and the Vampire Diaries books when I was at a used book store in CT last year, so I bought them and read them. I didn't really care for SC as much as I did TVD. (And yes, I know they're really for young adults. I pretty much read anything I can get my hands on, whether it's for adults or young adults.)

My 14 year old likes that show. She liked the books too. Started reading them over the summer and then found a couple of friends at the high school she just started liked them too. And she got her started on the series. I can't get into it, but I'm thinking the series is for the young adult- teenage girl set LOL.

I tried one of the books that True Blood is based on (can't remember the author). I don't know. Maybe it was that the first book I picked up was the brand-new one, but I just couldn't get into it. If I find one of the first ones at the library I may try the series again.

The only "new" show that I like is The Office. Since they had some cast changes. I don't know how much I like it. Tried "Up All Night" and got annoyed at how they made the husband "dumb" in some scenes. The show on after The Office was kind of dumb too.

It's not new, but I'm catching up on Supernatural for this season- and also deciding if I want to watch Army Wives or Law and Order: SVU. I loved SVU but it won't be the same without Stabler...

Y'all do like Terra Nova?

I was so excited about it as I LOVE Sci-Fi and I LOVE Dinosaurs, so figured that there was no way I could be disappointed.

Well, I hate that show with a passion, and couldn't even finish the grueling 2hr premiere.

To avoid spoilers, here's my problem with just about everything in the show in white letters below (highlight to view):
1) In a high-tech future where a third child is beyond illegal and ID chips are mandatory, why not sterilize the woman after her second child?

2) If she is already wealthy, then why weren't they living in the dome in the first place?

3) At no point did they even ATTEMPT to explain how the father got all these secret escape/smuggle plans, as all he had was a lightsaber somehow snuck into a futuristic supermax prison (no security procedures or xray machines in the future apparently).

4) The time portal is apparently one of the most expensive and important devices in the future to save mankind, and yet they don't even have basic security implemented to stop a single guy from running through? A terrorist could just blow the place.

5) Why isn't the city near the time portal, or at least a facility setup to transport to the city? Why make sick people walk through miles of jungle with dinosaurs about?

6) In just a day, we already saw a dozen people eaten, so how is such a small colony even surviving at that rate, and how would the teens not know of such extreme danger or how to deal with it when sneaking out?

7) This is the future where they have sonic impulse canons and the like, and yet they can't take out a dinosaur? Humans with 19th century technology have been easily taking out elephants and whales, but tiny brained dinosaurs are too much for future man?

8) Why wouldn't they restrain a dangerous terrorist and explain to the doctor that the patient is a terrorist?

9) The girl strips her clothes off, takes a 100 foot dive, and yet somehow on the bottom has clothes? Uhhh, what???

10) They find this alien looking writing and they, what, tell no one about it? Yeah right!

11) They pretend that the son loves his gf so much which is why he didn't want to go to Terra Nova, and yet in five mins he's totally forgotten about her and is on to this new chick? And don't get me started on the horrible acting out rebellious against dad...

12) When the mom knew that her daughter was in the backpack, why would she take it off and just leave it unattended?

13) Why the heck is orientation just for the children, considering that both the wife and husband as newcomers were oblivious to a lot of facts of Terra Nova?

14) In present day, we have armored vehicles that can withstand huge explosions, yet in the future they can't design armor that can stand up to dinosaur teeth? Seriously?

15) What was the point with trading with the 6ers? They were in their base, they were severely outgunned, you had the leader of the enemy in your hands, and if you shot them you'd STILL get the ore that they had in the truck.

16) The one girl was attacked by dinosaurs that tracked her down when she wasn't bleeding and then... what, how the heck did she survive? And the dinosaurs can rip through steel plating on a future-car, but they can't eat through the leg of a kid and he only has superficial wounds? WHAT!?!?

17) The doctor sees this gigantic bug on someone's back, doesn't know what it is, and just rips it off and says "you're ok now have a good one"??? Even a simple tick removal takes knowledge to do properly.

18) And what is with playing up the moral question of whether or not it was ok to break dad out of the supermax where he would have died and either move to the dome or to terra nova for the sake of her family? Maybe I should have let my husband die and stayed in the crappy toxic motel death trap where we were. This horrible moral dilemma... woe is me.

19) They never both to explain if there is somehow a limit on the amount of equipment and people they can send back, so if overcrowding is beyond crazy high, why not send tens of thousands of people through?

There's more stupidity that just boggles the mind....

I always love to watch the Big Brother series and the Bachelor
. I like the reality shows. I am really getting into The X Factor. I missed Simon Cowell and Paula on American Idol. Great to have them back together on this new show. Also have started watching Unforgettable.

Terra Nova - yes, it has its problems, but I just turn my brain off and watch the dinosaurs...

Person of Interest could be promising. I really like Michael Emerson.

New Girl - I have a huge girl crush on Zooey Deschanel.

Other than that, no new shows for me. I wanted to like Up All Night because I love Will Arnett and Christina Applegate, but so far it's not really doing it for me. And whoever mentioned the show after The Office - it's called Whitney and is literally one of the worst shows I have ever seen in my life. They have a laugh track after every single line, whether it was a joke or not. Of course, there's nothing remotely funny so maybe the laugh track just gets confused.
The writing and acting are atrocious... I predict it will be cancelled before Christmas.

My thoughts exactly on Terra Nova. The premise intrigued me, and while watching it, I started thinking, "um... whaaa?!" several times, but I didn't want to overthink it..... yup.... turned off my brain and watched the dinosaurs.

As for Whitney - ugh. They totally turned me off with the promos before the season even started! The main character came off as abrasive and whiney and awful, so I had already decided I didn't want to watch it.

I have read the first few True Blood books and just can't get into them. I have them all on my kobo and I am trying to read them all to see if they get better.

I've been watching Whitney, I actually kind of like it. I also have been watching 2 Broke Girls (really like it), New Girl, Up All Night, The Secret Circle, H8R and watched the premiere of Hart of Dixie this week.

I am watching all of the new shows that looked good, hoping that maybe a couple will be interesting enough and get picked up for a second season.

Whitney. Thank you- I couldn't remeber the name of the show.

I saw Whitney for about 10 minutes yesterday after dh and I had watched The Office. It was just dumb. Couldn't even make it through a whole show.

One of my favorite shows is Restaurant Impossible on Food Network

you sound like me, my DVR regularly approaches critical mass

my mom is watching revenge, but i wasn't that interested, I guess i didn't see how they could extend the premise beyond one season? I wanted to watch Ringer, but already have 2 other shows recording at that time
Playboy Club I didn't find interesting either- if you like that time period, you should seriously check out Mad Men- I was dubious about all the hype surrounding that sow, but wow, it really is that good

I'm currently taping everything that is new that looks interesting.

The Secret Circle
Body of Proof
Unforgettable
Person of Interest
Charlie's Angels
Prime Suspect

Old Standbys that I'm also taping:

Law and Order: SVU
Law and Order: Criminal Intent (if it's still on)
Glee
Grey's Anatomy
Bones
CSI
CSI NY
CSI Miami
Criminal Minds
Harry's Law
Lost Girl
Son's of Anarchy!!!!!!!!!!! (LOVE THIS SHOW)
Nurse Jackie
Ice Road Truckers
The Vampire Diaries
Harry's Law
Nikita
Blue Bloods
The Closer (just got back into this in the last couple of months)

The verdict on the new shows:
"The Secret Circle". Very boring. I've already stopped taping it.

"Person of Interest" isn't really keeping my interest so far. I'll give it another episode or 2 before giving up on it.

"Unforgettable". They should have named it "Forgettable". Again, not keeping my interest.

"Charlie's Angels". Terrible acting, but I'll give it another few shows before I make my decision.

"Prime Suspect". Loving it!

I like Secret Circle so far. I loved the books. The tv show is different from the books.

So far I have only watched Pan Am. I guess more for the nostalgic aspect. I'm iffy on it.

I am getting picky in my old age and not in love with a lot of today's shows.

I hear you. While (so far) I actually like this season more than last season, I'm really getting tired of the whole "God went on vacation and Lucifer is in charge and there's a huge war in Heaven" stuff. (To prevent spoiling for people who are just now tuning in to SN, just highlight the sentence above; it's in white.)

But I'll stay tuned-in....it's still my favorite show. I do think this season will be the last, although last season was supposed to be the last and both boys signed on again.

I'm enjoy X-Factor. Really missed Simon after he left Idol. Now he seems to have turned into "Mr. Nice" on X-Factor, and L.A. is the more critical one. Paula seems a lot more normal than she did on Idol.

Don't like Playboy at all. Just watched the first 2 episodes of "Gifted Man' and really liked it.

Always loved Law & Order SVU. I love Mad Men, but haven't been able to find it. Does anyone know when it's on? I used to work for an Ad Agency in NY and can relate to so much of Mad Men.

One question --- on Law & Order SVU, guess I missed some of last season, but what happened to Stabler? Why is he gone?
