Yep, Monty is not a little boy...the vet sexed her wrong when she was 4 weeks old. At 10 weeks now, she is DEFINATLY a girl

oops! I hope you aren't disappointed!

The other day, I saw a shelter photo of Picasso, that was given to me when I inquired about her. When I realized it wasn't her (but her brother), I started wondering if Picasso was really a girl or the shelter accidentally switched cats on me! I didn't know how to sex cats, and I was about to call my vet, until I remembered Picasso's stomach was shaved when she was given to me, where she was spayed, lol.

I did that once. My Ariel was originally named Niles and well....lets just say he acted like he was in heat a few months after bringing "him" into the home and sure enough SHE was haha

I did that with a hamster I had a while ago. We thought it was a male until I went to change the bedding one day and she had babies. It scared the
out of me. I had just got her a couple of weeks before.

Well I know at 4 weeks its kinda hard to tell. When we took her in two vets said boy and the vet tech said girl. The first vet really couldn't be sure so had the other vet come in and he said the same thing.

Looking at pics on the internet after we began questioning it the other day, she definatly looks like a Millie LOL

It surprises me to no end when a VET gets it wrong!
I sex my foster kittens within 24 hours of being born and I seriously can't remember the last time I was wrong. To the untrained eye, I can see how it can be difficult, but a vet?

Poor Millie and her gender identity issues!

Midnight's 1st vet couldn't tell us if he was a boy or girl until he was 5 weeks old. I just knew he was a boy

I did that, too, with Gemma. We really thought she was a boy (2 dark dots on her fur in a strategic place were thought to be testicles. I could only get furtive glimpses, as she was feral, and wouldn't let us touch her!). I named her "Jack". Imagine my amazement when, after her 1st vet appointment, the receipt had "Jacqueline" on it!
(I've since changed her name to "Gemma".)

My mother was 100% at sexing kittens. I'm pretty good, even on those just a few hours old. But it's a skill, no doubt about it.
