Roaming Males

There is an abandoned cat I've been feeding for quite some time. I recently treated him for earmites and worms. He started looking much better, eating more and feeling better. Well, now he seems to have disappeared. He was always around when I was and he was excited to see me when I pulled up to my house to greet me.

He basically adopted me as his owner. He would even sleep on my doorstep for a couple hours a night.

He seems to be gone. I called the vet and he wasn't picked up by the local police. Haven't called the humane society yet. What time of year do cats roam? Could he just be roaming? How long do they usually stay away when they are roaming?

There used to be a female in the neighborhood that seems to be gone too. Since she is gone, then he would go elsewhere to find a female.

You never can tell where he went. Hopefully he has not ran into anything dangerous or deadly.

There isn't any particular time of year they roam. I hope nothing's happened and he comes back.

Was he neutered? Because that, more than anything, helps keep them from going far or for very long.

What is the average length of time they are gone if they are roaming? He has been gone for about 3 weeks now. He hasn't been taken to the shelter. So, hopefully he will be back soon and nothing happened to him. He is not neutered. Unless for some reason, he just hasn't been showing up when I am not home for some weird reason, so I haven't seen him because of timing.
