I was sitting at my computer and noticed Phaedra playing around with something, and it was a tag to one of her toys that I cut off and it must have fell off my desk. It's about a bit more than half an inch, and she swallowed it. I saw her trying to force it down her throat and then she ate some food afterwards. Do you think she will be okay?

Watch her for any signs of throwing up or not pooping, lethargy, and hiding. If you notice any of these get her to the vet pronto as she might have a blockage and that needs to be addressed ASAP or it could be very serious. Otherwise, watch the litter box!

Thank you for your response. I cleaned out her cat box right away after she ate it, that way I would be able to tell if she went to the bathroom since it happened. She's eaten a few times and drank some water. She's napping right now on my bed. I hope she is fine and passes it!

She she should be fine. My Savannah has eaten: paper, plastic, shoe laces and so on. He has never had a problem with passing any item. My pure domestics have eaten rubber bands and pieces of fabric and never had a problem.

I would only add watch for fever and listless behavior. But Stephanietx has covered all the major/common ones!

Just so you know if the cat has bowel movements for the next seventy two hours, eating, drinking and shows NONE of the above symptoms you are most likely in the clear. I would not worry too much

Was it a paper tag? Was there any plastic on the tag? If it was paper, it should disintegrate with her stomach acids.

It was a paper tag, and she finally pooped! I'll still keep an eye on her though

Hooray! I stay on poop watch for about 3 days. After that, I figure they're okay.

It is plastic, fabric, and non natural materials that I worry the most about regarding ingestion/digestion and then the cat passing. But most of you do not have major issues with cats and pica
, right?

I would not worry too much about paper. Also as long as the cat has a bowel movement every twenty four hours for the next seventy two hours, I would bet all is well.

Though my Savannah does not have a bowel movement every twenty four hours necessarily now that he is on high quality dry food and mice. But even my DLH Panda only has a bowel movement once in a twenty four hour period.

The two DSH almost NEVER use the litter boxes, they prefer to go outside. Though Shadow loves to spray inside Loki's giant Boxes
.

Glad all is well
!
