...and of LP being a major brat.

Foster kitten Ivan is a pretty decrepit little guy. He hasn't grown much in the month he's been here, his eyes aren't really responding to the BNP ointment, he doesn't do litter boxes and kind of just goes wherever, and I think its more of a control issue than it is an age issue because he is very, very wobbly and just..."slow". We have a vet appointment for him this evening, so please wish us luck.

I gave him a bath because he was dirty and smelled like pee. I had him downstairs with me and was drying him off when Pria jumped up and started grooming him! LP either wanted to play with him or eat him...not sure which it was.

We just left the vet. Per his recommendation, little Ivan is being euthanized. He obviously has a neurological issue and was even peeing and pooing everywhere there.
He said the outlook was not good, that he had eye ulcers due to the infection and would probably lose both of them as well. He said he obviously has no immune system. I had a HARD time agreeing with him but I couldn't delay the inevitable. He did not grow the entire month he was here, he was very wobbly, had no control over peeing/pooping, etc. Totally broken hearted right now. Rest in peace precious baby.

Aw, that's too bad. You've had a rough week with the little ones, huh? It has to be hard, but when I think about how many little ones you help - especially mommas and their babies - I hope that helps when you have to let one go.

The ONLY thing keeping me going right now is that 2 other foster kittens, Jax & Honey, were adopted together tonight. Such a bittersweet day.

I was just chatting with another foster mom, and she has lost 6 out of 7 kittens in her newest litter. You just never know, and it is by far the HARDEST part of fostering.

I was really rooting for little Ivan. But having a cat with a neurological condition I know how difficult it can be. I have another one that when I adopted her could have lost an eye to ulcer, and she struggles to this day with poor immunity. I can't imagine his life with such severe issues. So I am glad he isn't suffering anymore and I am very glad he had such a loving warm home to spend his short time in.

You are a wonderful person for opening your home and heart to these unfortunate little ones.

Kailie

I'm so sorry about Ivan. Sometimes it's the kindest thing we can do but it doesn't mean that your heart doesn't bleed a bit. At least he had the chance to know love and care.
RIP little Ivan
