How often do you take your HEALTHY cat to the vet?

I am curious to how often people take their healthy cats to the vet for general checkups and such? (not including illness/emergency visits)

I take mine once a year, every March. Since they're young and healthy.. but in a few years, I may up it to twice a year.

Well, when we had an income it was once a year for my two young girls and twice a year for Spaz.

With both of us unemployed, we scrape the money up to take Spaz and the dog twice a year, they are my seniors.

Thankfully, we do have my parents as a safety net if something goes wrong and they need to go.

I take each cat to the veterinarian once a year for a check up and vaccines. For the senior of the group Momma cat, gets blood work and urine analysis done on a yearly basis as well.

Once a year.

It used to be once a year, but now that they're over 10 it's two to three times.

now that mine are 'mature' kitties, I take them in twice a year for senior panels and a wellness check.

All of mine go at least once a year. 2 of mine with chronic medical problems go twice a year.

Of course that's not the only time I'm at the vet. I joke with them that I pay their utility bills each year.

Once every one or two years, depending.

Bijou goes once a year for vaccines and check-up.

I would take them to the vet once a year, if nothing went wrong, for their rabies shot and a check-up. But something always goes wrong (or sometimes it's just me worrying ), so it ends up a few times a year. And Dorothy has to get bloodwork done every 6 months, so she's twice a year minimum.

I don't think I've ever had one of my cats go that long without having to go to the vet for something besides a basic exam, even my young fairly healthy cats... If I didn't end up at the vet so often for other things, I guess I would take them 1-2 times a year.

Once per year for "healthy" younger kitties, seniors or those w/ chronic conditions 2x/year. And I'm there more often than that in most cases.

I take my crew once a year. If they need to go, they go more often.

For my healthy cats, I take them to the vet twice a year for an exam and, if necessary, vaccines. For my two cats with chronic health issues, I take them more often -- it usually winds up to be about 3-4 times a year. And, of course, if anyone needs to go in between that time, I do not hesitate to schedule an appointment. And, truth be told, it always seems as though someone needs to be seen for something -- whether it be a quick check-in, vaccines, or a more serious issue.

I work in a veterinary clinic and I have seen too many cases where health issues have arisen in just a few short months. Therefore, I am vigilant about having my kitties (and dogs) seen by their vet bi-annually. If something should come up, my hope is that it is caught early on and can be treated before becoming a more serious concern.

So, Emory and Delaney get a check up twice a year. And, if they need vaccines, I do take them in (though I do not necessarily vaccinate on a yearly basis). And, Cassidy and Finnegan go in more frequently. Cass has IBD and dental issues and Finn has allergies and dental issues -- if I were to take them in less often, things could potentially get out of hand.

So, what I do works for us. But, unless extenuating circumstances are present, my professional opinion is that pets should be seen yearly or bi-annually. Of course, it is a matter of what works for each individual, but that is where I fall opinion-wise. And, I always recommend having an open and honest dialogue with your vet. What works for one does not always work for all -- having a professional help guide you is key. And, it helps maintain a positive relationship between pet owner and vet.
