My 1 year old Ragdoll absolutely loves the very small real fur mice that you get at the pet supply store. She loves to play fetch. The weird thing is everytime that I give her one....she pushes it under my large screen TV set. I thought that she was just stupid at first. Lita does it everytime I give her one. I watch her and she does it on purpose....then runs around to the back of the TV and fishes it out. Then she will then do it again. I mean she will do it 10 out of 10 times that I give her the mouse. Lita has been doing this odd act for about 2 months now. It is like she is not happy unless she cannot reach the mouse. Anyone have any ideas why Lita might be doing this?

Uhm no... but if you ever find out why Lita is doing it, could you let me know? Spike does the same thing.
I think it's a game really... sometimes he even includes me. Meowing and pacing in front of me until I get out my flashlight and a clotheshanger, lie on my side and peer under whatever he shoved the mousie under. Then he proceeds to lie down on HIS side, IN FRONT of my face, so I can't see a darn thing.

When ever I can't find any of Lita's mice I look under the TV and there are always at least 2 under there out of her reach. I go get the flashlight and a stick to get them out....and she does the same thing as Spike...she lays on her side right in front of my eyes so I can't see a dam thing. I push her aside and as soon as I get one of the mice close to coming out.....Lita will jump in the way and push it back under the TV again.....GGGrrrrrrrrr
Gee thanks Lita for the team work!

That is SO Spike! As I finally get around his furry bottom to see and fish out his mousies, his quick little paws shove them right back under the piece of furniture! He's such a good helper.

Blondie bats his little plastic jingle balls under the bureau and then runs around behind it to bat at them from the other side. He is the only one of the cats who plays with these balls, the rest seem uninterested, but he has enough interest for a few cats!
Last night he brought three of them, one at a time, into the bedroom closet. So now I know where he keeps his stash!

I found 16 of Sam's spongy balls under the couch. I think he put them there for safekeeping. My sister's cat stores pens under the TV stand. If anyone in the house needs a pen, they look for one there, and select from the couple dozen that the cat keeps track of.

Really, the cats seem to like digging out things that are cornered. Like the laser pointer red dot. Not interested at all when it is out in the open. But shine it behind something, they go into huntin mode to stalk it. I expect that this is instinct, don't waste time and energy on prey that has a clear path of escape. Because you know those little furry mice will run away if you don't shove them under the tv.

There's no place like home
Mine do the same thing, with either toy mice or the real ones. They actually tucked a dead mouse into my briefcase once, and thank heavens I found it BEFORE I got to work that day.

I think it has to do with the fact that mice will come out of little cracks and crevices. My outdoor cats will sit and stare at a mouse hole for hours waiting for them to exit, or else poke their paws in and try to fetch them out. I think this is just pure instinct showing in our indoor kitties.

For a laugh, take a look in the lounge for my post "Kodak moments that got away". This is a perfect example of my cats tucking their dead toys under things, in this case, my husband's pillow.

My cat hates those mice! But she loves rollers and footies from the shoe store (I work at one) and she always puts them under the dresser too! In the kitchen she puts stuff under the stove...in another room under the couch lol
