I haven't been on the forums for a while due to being pretty busy with my new rescue dog! My husband and I rescued Zoe about a month ago. She is a cattle dog mix and we think she might have some whippet in her. The shelter said she is 2 years old but we don't think she's that old.

Zoe has a very timid personality and gets her feelings hurt pretty easily.
I'm not sure if she was abused or what her life was like before us. We have been working with her a lot and taking her everywhere with us and doing a ton of socialization. She is pretty good with the kitties. She likes to smell them and poke them with her nose and that's about it. Lilly seems to really like her and she has been trying to play with Zoe since we brought her home.

Yep, she's off leash. We've had her a month and she already has a pretty solid recall!

So pretty! From the pics, I see Basenji in there too....and those dogs are VERY intelligent, which may account for the good recall so fast.

Thank you!
She is so much fun! We really love her. She is the first adult rescue dog we've ever had. It's been a lot different than raising a pup! She is so easy to deal with and came already potty trained.

She's cute!
It's normal for cattle dogs to be timid and shy if they aren't properly socialized. They are also dogs that take used to getting to people as they are working dogs and more independent and rely on their master for guidance. Some aren't OMG I LOVE everyone dogs, it just depends on the dog. It doesn't mean they have been abused, these dogs can be really, really sensitive.

I have met A LOT of sensitive cow dogs at the shelter but they warm up in time and so will your girl.

Cute! Looks like she's thinking, "Something's not right about these dogs."

Looks like your crew likes her, though!

I have a part "cowdog" myself, and yes, they are emotional little things. They are also VERY SMART and tend to like to please their people.

Zoe is a nice looking dog. I hope you get to enjoy her for many many years!
