Wanna see a Scrapbook I'm working on?

It's for a co-worker who is leaving next week for grad school. He is Chinese, thus the Chinese theme! Here are a few of the pages.

I like that! I do scrapbooking as well, and I love ideas!!!! Where do you get your supplies from?

I did notice something though...on your personal note to him, I think you forgot a word in your sentence.
You have "It's my responsibility tell you, we miss you...". Looks like you forgot to put "to" after responsibility.

Great job though...I'm sure he'll love it!

I get my supplies from everywhere! The book is a little 6x8" I got from Michaels. The dragon and Xinghua's name in Chinese I did on the computer and used 8"x10" sheets of clear Avery address labels from an Office Supply. There are no divisions it's just one whole sheet so you can print out a bunch of stuff at once.

The pictures are digital and I also print those out on the clear address labels. I don't know why but they turn out high quality pictures. Then I stick them onto white cardstock and then mat them. Most of the cardstock I get at a Scrapbook store called "Mom and Me." They have such vibrant colors!

I also get a lot of supplies from many other scrapbook stores (and internet sites). There is a store on every corner in Utah, it seems!

I think I opened a can of worms. Last month I made one for someone else that was leaving, who was special to me. Well everyone liked it so much that when this guy turned in his resignation, his manager asked me to do one for him. Next time I'll charge!

I forgot to mention that the dragon theme also comes from the fact that his last name means dragon.

Don't you're co-workers kick in to help cover your expenses? This book is beautiful, and after reading how you made it, I can't imagine it's a cheap hobby.

No, so far my co workers have not chipped in. Except one guy said he would get the book. Well the book he got was this cheap paper covered book. One that a child might make a school scrapbook or something. So I told him one of my cats got it and bought a nice one myself! I just couldn't give the one he bought. The thing that sometimes bothers me is most of my co workers make upwards of six digits and poor little ole me is still right about at the top portion of the poverty line.

Just my opinion, but tell them the next time you are asked to make one. You could say something, I will be happy to make a book, but others need to chip in because they cost me x # of $. If you don't say something, they will continue to let you foot the bills. And that isn't right, especially if all their names are attached to your work as a gift. I'm sure the receiver knows where it came from but it isn't fair to you at all.

I agree with jmvito, scrapbooking isnt cheap after all!

Yeah, you guys are right. Next time I will ask for more $$ support. I enjoy doing it but it does get expensive.
