Chocolate Raspberry Truffle cheesecake.

Heaven!
Heaven!
My thighs may be touching;
but I'm in....
Heaven!
Heaven!

Seriously. Sooo good! So bad. But man gooooood!

DH and I have just had one thing or another prevent us from going out since we were supposed to go celebrate our anniversary back in the beginning of JUNE! So tonight we dropped our DD off at my mother's and drove up to The Cheesecake Factory. We had these Avocado Egg-rolls that were to die for as an appetizer. Our dinners were very good too!

But the REAL reason to go is the dessert. To me it's a bit pricey for your meals there; but the food is good. But dessert....ooooh yes. We took it home and I still was only able to eat half my slice. DH had a lemon raspberry cheesecake! It was great too! Mom requested we bring her back a slice of the Godiva chocolate cheesecake. It looked amazing.

It felt good to go out just the 2 of us too. Of course the people next to us had a wiggly baby and the a toddler meltdown; but hey wasn't my kid! And they were leaving at that point!

I LOVE Cheesecake Factory. I'm not overly fond of cheesecake (gasp!), but theirs is pretty good as far as cheesecake goes. What I really love is their food. I think it's the only restaurant I've been to where I've totally enjoyed absolutely everything I've ever ordered (or tasted from other people's plates). And their waitstaff are consistently knowledgeable about the menu, pleasant, and attentive but not overly so (at least at their Omaha location, which is the only one I've been to). Sadly, Omaha is 2 hours away from my house. . .. But now that's the only restaurant I go to when I do make it to Omaha. I hope they open one in Sioux Falls someday.

Never been there, but I know that the Cheesecake Factory comes up almost every time in those "amazingly high-calorie meals that you thought were healthy" articles.

I wish we had those here!

That was my first thought, too. One meal >3,000 calories???

I'm not too big on cake, but usually don't say no to cheesecake. Right now I've got one frozen for a rainy day (or unexpected company).

Glad to hear you had an enjoyable celebration!

I've never eaten at Cheesecake Factory. I love cheesecake though. Because of all the calories it's something I only have a few times a year. I live close to a Cheesecake Factory and a couple times a year I will get a slice to take home. Their cheesecake is really good.

Some of their cakes are to die for also. A bunch of people once chipped in for an entire cake for a coworker's birthday. I think we paid about $75 for that cake, but oh, it was soooo good!!

Love their cheesecake....their food, not so much. But I will tolerate the food if it means I get a nice slice of cheesecake after.

i love their cheesecake too, but not their food. it's listed as some of the worst restaurant food that's bad for you.

i like the Yard House better. love their food and they have the best beer selection all on tab

Oh I'm sure!! But then most of the portion sizes are so huge it could make 3 meals easily.

It's a little over an hour for us too. But it's attached to a mall that has a Barnes & Noble too; so that motivates us to go. That and the sporting goods stores up there. We have none near us; so theres something for everyone when we make the trip. Its probably good that it's a drive...less tempting!

DH loves cheesecake and he really likes the Cheesecake Factory. There aren't any around here either; when he's in Vegas, he goes to one there (or maybe it's Reno, I don't remember). But I know we've been there.

Even though I don't like cheesecake (it's the texture, I think), I've learned how to make all different kinds. Since it's Rick's absolute favorite dessert, it's always on his menu for a special dinner.

The first time I ever had cheesecake was when Rick's mom invited me to dinner when we were dating. I took my first bite and had to force it down. Rick noticed right away and he said, "You know, I think I'll take your piece, too!" And I gratefully pushed my plate over to him.

Huh, I don't think I've seen that list. Being that I always order the beet and arugula salad with goat cheese , and someone else at the table got a salmon tartare, I guess I never thought of their food as being especially unhealthy. I guess I'm used to picking healthier items off any menu.

Oh yum!!! Looks great!

Twice in our nearly 10 years together DH has tried to make my birthday cake/dessert. Once I got a frozen blackberry cobbler for him to just bake up. It was sooo cute....he took it out of the oven and stuck the candles in, lit them and everything....and they melted. It looked like pastel M&Ms! We ended up at Bob Evans; who just happened to have Blackberry cobbler on the menu! Then when we got home I picked the wax out of the other cobbler and ate the berries! YUM!

The last time I was craving a chocolate cake made with rum. So I found him a recipe and he made it while I was out with my Mom at a gem show. He called every 10 minutes and it was so bad he, my mom, Step-dad and I all choked down our pieces. Bless his heart! He tried!

Humm..... IMHO that's a huge push - I would like to see that list. I know their menu well... Have eaten there plenty of times... In my early days in the US I delivered from them - later on, there was one on the building I worked in LA....
There are way worst restaurants in just about every corner in the US... I have a much harder time in the MW and some cities in the south, where it is hard to get away from the fried stuff, butter - TONS of butter! and more fried stuff, than at Cheesecake. Sure, there are bad items in the menu, but they have a huuuuuuuge list you can choose from, and you can certainly eat healthy there. Plus, if you ask, they will cook your food according to your like - no sauce, sauce on the side, grilled, blackened, etc.

You know I've read that even restaurants with designated "healthy" sections sometimes butter up those dishes as you order them. It might say 300 calories on the menu; but if the chef added butter for flavor, etc...well you don't know what you are getting necessarily. I don't think any restaurants around here serve proper portion sizes. A lot of it is still under our control if we decide how much we will eat and how often we eat out. The problem for me is stopping when it tastes so good.

I think most restaurant portions are huge and many restaurants charge what I think is too much for splitting a meal between two people. I think they do that so people will go ahead and order two meals. The only extra cost there would be is washing two place settings for one meal. I think some of those restaurant meals with the huge calorie counts is at least partly because it is enough for 2 or 3 reasonably sized portions.

this is just one of the lists they repeatedly show up on. i used to eat there a lot too.
my neighbor used to get the baked potato w/veggies at the Claim Jumper and thought it was healthy. i checked the info on calories etc on the menu one night since they have to post it now and it said it contains over 4000mg of sodium. when i asked the server about it he said it's because they wrap the potato in salt to make it tastier.

Ok, that's fine.... But that list is of the worst foods - the way you described the restaurant itself, you generalized it - Cheesecake Factory has hundreds of items in their menu - some are very, very bad. Some are not.

IMHO, your quote, above, is a misrepresentation of the restaurant. Saying that some of their dishes are listed as some of the worst/unhealthy sit-down restaurant foods in America (in that list), would be a better representation. IMHO, from the hundreds of items in there, you can, eat well and healthy - and they can cook healthy/modify your order accordingly.

OMG!! I love Cheesecake Factory! I wish they would build one closer to me!

My all time favorite is the Pasta Da Vinci!

Of course...it takes me 20 minutes to always decided on what cheesecake to have!

We had one near by my dad's house when I went on vacation and they're delicious! I like the apple cheesecake with Cinnamon, tasted like apple pie-cheesecake version.
