We had to put tulip down today
She was having breathing problems so last Friday I took her to the vet and he couldn't make a diagnosis. When we got home her breathing was worse and I didn't think she would make it throught the weekend. H works shift work out of town and he was away, he ended up missing his two night shifts to come home for me. Tulip started to get better over the weekend, she was breathing better and started eating a bit. On Tuesday the vet called with more blood test results and we found out that she had hyperthyroidism. I was relieved to have a diagnosis and we decided to bring her in for another blood test to make sure there was no heart damage and then we would start the treatment for the hyperthyroidism.
I took her in for the blood test this morning and she panicked and couldn't breathe by the time I got there. They tried to give her oxygen and I left her there and then went back with H. They said she wasn't responding to the oxygen and even if they stabilize her and we start the treatment for the hyperthyroid there's a good chance I'll have to go back every three weeks cause of breathing problems. So H and I made a decision and he told them we couldn't put her through that (or me).
So she's gone now. I'm thankful we got an extra week with her and that she was feeling a bit better for that week. I know the decision was for the best but I'm not sure if I should be worried about her sister Pansy. She seems okay but she must be missing Tulip right?
This has been a very long and stressful couple of weeks.
