OMG! What a day!

I was a bit late getting out of work and didn't have time to go to the bathroom, so I figured I'd go when I got home as my ride was going to be arriving shortly.

I got home around 5 pm. I got into the elevator with 2 ladies and a little girl. They got off on the 2nd floor and I carried on up to the 7th floor. The door wouldn't open.

I pressed the 8th floor figuring I'd walk down a flight of stairs to 7. The door wouldn't open there either. I tried 7 again. Again the elevator would stop but the door wouldn't open. I tried 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and basement, all with the same outcome.

I was stuck in the freaking elevator!!!

I went back to the 2nd floor and leaned on the emergency alarm button hoping the caretaker would hear it. She did, and so did others. Several people came to the elevator. No one could get the door open, even when the outside buttons were pressed.

Of course people on the other floors were wanting an elevator and my elevator was obliging them by taking me up and down, but not opening the door!

I finally got back to the 2nd floor and the caretaker said that she called someone. I didn't know who she called. But I wasn't about to wait and find out.

My back was sore from standing, I had to pee so bad I was about to flood the elevator. I was feeling very light headed and the elevator was hot. I had visions of me being stuck in there for hours and that started off a mini panic.

I pulled out my cell phone and called 911 and had the fire department come and get me out of the elevator.

The door opened to 4 very handsome faces!

In all I was stuck in there for almost 40 minutes.

Oh wow that is the WORST! I don't panic in small spaces like that, but Gary does. But having to pee?

SO glad you made it home in time! (And good thinking on calling 911!!!!)

OMG, thought I hit new thread, it saved in here. My bad. Ignore the title.

but I did mean to post in here, lol. Probably why i got messed up!

Being in an elevator is scary. I got stuck on one during a cruise.. thankfully it was a glass elevator and people saw me waving for attention!

Having to pee was the worst!! It made the seconds feel like days!

When I finally did get out, the head fire fighter gave instruction to the 3 firemen with him about how to break into an elevator and where the breakers are in the elevator shafts etc. So that meant that the other elevator was tied up with an elevator rescue inservice! It was a further 15 minutes waiting for them to finish. In the meantime I sat on the bench in the lobby, squirming in my seat hoping my bladder wouldn't give way! Since I had my hysterectomy when the urge to go hits, it's hard to control because my bladder no longer has something to rest against.

That would have sent me over the edge! I am already claustrophobic. Ugh! Just the thought gives me the willies!

I am glad you go out, made it to the bathroom (I assume), and are safe!

I'm not a fan of elevators and will avoid them whenever possible. I'd rather climb ten flights of stairs than use an elevator. So I definitely would have been freaking out, too. Glad you got out safely (and with dry pants).

My luck would have been facing the four handsome firemen with a puddle around my feet.

Normally I wouldnt have thought that would be something that I would be afraid of, but the way you told it, OMG it sounded so scary.

So glad that it all worked out.

Sounds like a crazy afternoon! Glad you got out safely, and got some eye candy to boot!

When my family and I went to Niagara Falls for indoor auto racing, I ended up getting stuck in the elevator for about 15 minutes
I guess it needed a break!

40 minutes wasn't actually very long. But when you have back pain and can't sit down, and also have to pee....OMG!
