Integration not going well

I don't know what to do. Maybe we're rushing, but I can't even remember it taking this long before.

We've had a new cat isolated for two weeks, started room swap and all. The vet told us my husband could probably start introducing them, so my husband did. It did NOT go well. She was ok with one of our cats, but somehow got under the bed with another and it ended in blood. I am devastated and am starting to think we need to give her back to the rescue, because I feel so terrible for the cat she hurt. He wants to make her an outdoor cat or keep her locked in a room the rest of her life. I am physically sick over all this.

She was in a foster home with other cats and was fine, so I can't understand this. Are we just going too fast?

Can you confine the other cats and let her explore the rest of the house for a bit on her own? Let her check everything out and get used to their scent. I think she may just need some more time.

We've done that, but maybe not long enough? The other issue that the new cat AND the cat she injured are both chasers. They see another cat run and take off after them. I don't know how to handle then.

You could always try with a Feliway diffuser. Making the tensions lesser.

Playing also soft, calming music (preferably harp-music, but almost any will do).

Good luck! *vibes*

Some cats, even if they're good with other cats, take quite awhile to adjust. When we brought Wendel home, Sybil accepted him like he's always been here on the first day...Freya...well, she's warmed up to him a little, ten months later.

The biggest problem between Freya and Wendel is he likes to pounce and wrestle and she is not cool with that so it's taken them awhile to sort out what boundaries they can both live with, but they have sorted it out. You can try putting a couple baby gates (one on top of the other) in the doorway so they can see each other, but not get to each other. That way they can get used to each others presence without the risk of injury or miscommunication.
