I done this thread on another forum and some of the stories made me laugh and cry and think so maybe it will have the same effect here. My worse A+E visit (for a injury)

was when I sliced a bit of my finger off on a tuna can...

The most scary visit and recent was when they discovered the pressure in my brain (Caused by a condition called benign Intercranial hypertention) I was admitted straight to wards and kept in for a week I was very ill and still am..

Anywho.. whats your story..

I had a few trips...

First time I was 2. I fell of a trunk and sliced my head open. 3 stitches and I was good as new.

When I was 11, I fell and broke my leg (twisted it when I fell, resulting in a spiral fracture that kept spreading). When that finally healed, I thought I was cool and tried to walk without crutches the next day and fell on the steps and sprained that same ankle.

In my early 20's, I was in a house fire. We all made it out JUST in time but I had inhaled some smoke then went into a panic attack. That was my first ride in an ambulance.

My last trip was when I was driving an ATV. I hit a huge hole in the trail (not even going very fast), went off and hit a tree. I hit the handle bars. I had cuts all up my arms and legs and some deep bruises on my stomach. I got yelled at by the doctor for "showing off and being stupid".

1. Age 4: Ate the WHOLE box of chocolate Ex-Lax. Stomach pumped out!

2. Age 5: Old Lefty tried to open a can of peas (lefties have to reach around the ragged can lid). Stitches in left hand.

3. Twelve years ago, I had most of my upper lip torn off in a dog bite. Also recieved complimentary nose piercings in 3 spots from said dog. Ouch.

Aside from being born, I've never had to go to the hospital for anything *knock wood*. I count my blessings.

though I did have to go into an emergancy clinic for slicing my thumb at work. wasn't at the hospital though.. does that count?

Same here!!

Although I did slice my thumb open with a knife one time while my mom was at work. It should have gotten stitches but by the time she came home and realized the severity, it was too late for that.

When I was 6 or so, my mother was pushing me on a swing. I kept saying higher! higher! When I was going really high, I thought I would see what it would be like to swing with no hands. I found out when I went flying off the swing, scared the stuffing out of my poor mom, and ended up in the ER. I was fine, didn't break anything, just knocked the win out of me. But, I don't think I ever got pushed on the swing again.

When I was little, my brother and I had our own little hammers. We got in a fight and hit each other on the head with our hammers. I had to get stitches. Of course, my brother with the lucky charm up his butt didn't need stitches.

When I used to take swimming lessons, I had a chance to jump off the high diving board. I got scared and started climbing down the stairs. I don't know why but I climbed down with my back facing the stairs so my foot slipped and my feet hit each stair down and finally got caught between them and I flipped over. I ended up on crutches. Loser.

I was working in a restaurant and slicing onions. Thought I would add my thumb to the french onion soup. My dad had to pick me up to get stitches. Getting the anesthetic injected into my thumb hurt more than the slice!

Was washing a glass which broke and sliced my hand. The anesthetic wasn't freezing my hand so the doctor did it without freezing.

In university, I was starting to get a cold so I took vitamin c pills. Well I took too many and needed whatever treatment. I don't even remember what it was.

Nothing too serious. Just stupid incidents. Knock on wood.

I was in the hospital often as a child with asthma...

and being a curious child... I chopped off the tip of one finger at 2, at 3 I glued my eyes shut with industrial strength glue (left unattended in a hospital waiting room)

at 16 I was overdosed on medication given to me for having wisdom teeth removed the pharm tech typed the label wrong so I had a triple dose.. body convulsions were scary, but luckily I survived.

At 22 I put my head through a windshield and broke the steering column with my chest because I was too cool for seat belts. Never did that again! \t

LOL! Mom kept ours in the cabinet above the fridge, which may be why I thought it was food. It was the WORST chocolate I've ever tasted!!!!

Maybe this is TMI, but I've NEVER required a laxative since!

When I was 16 I was in the hospital to have my wisdom teeth pulled. When I was 19 I was in the hospital twice because of my gall bladder. The 1st night I went in they gave me a pain med and sent me home. Halloween night I had to go back to the hospital. I stayed that night, the next day I had my gall bladder removed. I stayed over again that night. The next day I was able to go home. A couple of years ago I spent the day in the hospital to have nose surgery due to allergies.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
When I was in about 2nd or 3rd grade I saw a movie where a snake came up the toilet and ate someone while they were pooping. For a kid with a crazy over active imagination and already scared of the dark that was a terrifying movie. Well I refused to poop for so long I ended up with a horrible stomach ache and literally backed up so bad it was putting pressure on my lungs making it hard to breathe. That was ER trip one.....and another a couple months after that for the same reason. To this day I will not poop in the dark or the middle of the night.

In the beginning of the summer of 07 someone stole my purse while we were out at a bar and I got lividly furiously angry...obviously instigated more by the alcohol. Well I got so mad instead of flipping out on a person I punched out my car window with one hand and the other smashed it into the side of my car. Resulted in needed stitches in the muscle in my arm and stitches in my skin. I still have stuff in my arm, my blue freckles. I also ended up with 3 broken fingers, two broken knuckles, the two bones that connect my knuckles to my wrist were broken and my wrist was broken. I had a splint for a week then they put a cast on....the cast didnt last a week till I cut it off with a steak knife. I had no help in the house and not being able to wet one arm literally made me unable to do anything so no cast after that and I kept the splint. One of the connecter bones in my hand never healed correctly and I have a gap in the bone, like a triangle, closed on top open on the bottom. I always have to be really careful doing certain things so I dont rebreak it cuz I wont get surgery on it and it hurts like crazy when its gonna rain.

Chasing Da Bird...
Age about 3, pinky caught in the car door, compound fracture. cast on my little hand after surgery. I still use that scar to explain to my kids what a compound fracture is...

5th grade, got poison ivy on my face, it spread to my ENTIRE body, (and I mean the whole enchilada) I am apparently severely allergic, had seizures, needed to be in the hospital for a week. I was so swollen, I was blind and deaf for several days during that time. You can imagine I still have panic attacks when I see PI anywhere.

6th grade, picked up a stray cat, the cat got spooked by some sound, and it scratched my face and one ear was ripped at the top (where it meets my head) so it was stitches for that. I still pic up stray cats, so I'm not so bright.

High school, ran track, missed a hurdle, came down on my knees, tore a ligament, and needed to be in a brace for a month or so, also needed the knee drained.

Second Pregnancy, bled for the first 14 weeks. Turns out he was supposed to be a twin, I lost one. (He's as high maintenance as two though)

Fourth pregnancy, fell down my front porch stairs. Twisted my ankle, and banged up my knees. Never claimed to be graceful.

Two weeks ago running and my ankle hurt to the point of having to limp home. Just a sprain, but I thought it was a stress fracture. It's better now.

I just realized I am a little accident prone, huh?

The last time I was in the ER (about three years ago), it was because we thought I was having a heart attack. After a lot of tests and bloodwork (and other tests, including a couple kinds of stress tests, later on that week), they figured out that the Fosamax that I was taking for my bones was creating a lot of acid reflux and the actual symptoms of a heart attack. Stopped taking Fosamax and (knock on wood) have been doing fine since.

The time before that (about 8 years ago), it was because of a really bad gall bladder. Had it removed about a week later, went home and had pizza for dinner that night. And life has been good.

Age 17 : server tonsiliitus was in hospital for a week very ill

Age 17: Operation to remove tonsils and take out the growth for biopsy (came back benign thank god)
Age 18 : 3X stays in hospital due a condition effectin my kidneys and bladder.
Age 19: Tried chasing some one after to much alcohol ( that some one was my dad and the horrible woman he had been cheating on my mum with) ruptured achilles tendon ,split calf muscle and was in a cast for 3.5 MONTHs still ongoing physio

I was at school when I fell off the swing and went face first into the icy snow. I ended up with 2 black eyes 2 busted lips, cuts and scrapes everywhere. I got a few stitches in my head and that was the worst trip to emerg I remember.

A couple years ago I fell down a flight of stairs and ended up sideways on my ankle. I really thought it was broken. I was alone and it was mr right ankle. I couldn't get back up the stairs so I crawled into the car i was only 3 km from the hospital so I took back roads driving carefully with my left foot to the hospital. We now have a phone in the garage in case I have a clumsy moment. It turned out to be a really bad sprain that had me in an aircast for 2 months.

The only time I've been to the ER was when I opened a door and somehow my foot was still under the door and as the door opened, it peeled my toenail right off...It was gross and painful and I felt like an idiot....
I was 11 at the time..
