moving advice... sooner or later

Here is a complicated situation:

1.5 years ago: found feral kitten: 4 months old?, took her home
1 year ago: young cat is fully tame, purring and cuddly and able to be picked up. She is fixed.

Early August: move from Europe to Midwest to Granny's attic. Feliway had been plugged in for a month. Cat adjusts almost immediately.

Late August: move to New Apt (#1). Cat is very upset, lots of crying for a few days, but now, 3 weeks in, she is fine and quite happy. We are totally convinced that feliway + good hiding places + good high up perches + plenty of attention from owners= best way for kitty cat to adjust to new environment.

My husband has an academic job so he has 5 weeks off around Xmas and 3 months off in the summer. I have just accepted a job in another state. So I will move to New Apt 2 in a few weeks. My husband and I will see each other every other weekend.

Which of these scenarios do you recommend:

1. When husband comes to stay at Apt 2 over Xmas, he brings cat. Cat stays at Apt 2.

2. Cat stays at Apt 1 over Xmas and through spring, but brings cat to Apt 2 for the summer.

We are heartbroken that our situation is this complicated. We want expert advice on how to make her existence as low stress as possible.

I have lived this situation,

I had my own apartment and my cats were fully aclimated to them. Then I had a 3 week period where I needed to take my cats with me to my parents house due to family issues.

The most stressful part was the travel, the cats don't like the car so like a good mother I gave them some Rescue Remedy and they were less stressed. My mom had the Feliway pluggted in at her place and the cats seemed to be fine with the move. They quickly claimed it as their own and put the dog in her place.

I would recomend having a safe room for the cat when you move to the new place and having things that smell like her in abundance. Pillows, cat tree, the blanket off your bed if she normally sleeps with you. Those things will make her believ that it might be a new place but it is still welcoming to her.

When both her things and her people are there she will adapt more quickly.

I think the one move suggested in #1 is the best least tramatic event for the cat.
