I'm a little nervous...

I got a notice from my apartment manager last week that my apartment was "randomly selected" for a bank appraisal. The inspector is coming today between 10:00 and 5:00. They said that due to the number of units being inspected there was no way to give a more narrow time. The inspection itself is supposed to only take a few minutes.

I left a note on my door saying that I have a cat inside and to please use caution when entering and leaving so that she doesn't get out. I know Holland, and I can say with almost complete certainty that when they arrive she will hide under the bed until well after they are gone. But there's just that thought that what if THIS is the time she chooses for her first door darting experience ever?

I know it's silly, and I know she'll be fine, but I can't stop thinking about it!!!

I would probably be worried too.. but I do have 2 door darters. Funny though, Dot tries to get out the front, Genever tries to get out the back. I'm sure your little scardey cat Holland will hide though. And the note should make the inspectors more aware in case she doesn't hide. I bet you can't wait to get home from work and hug your baby though!!

Whew! I understand your concern - I think I'd stay home for the inspection if I didn't have any other alternative.

Hope all goes well!

I'm the same way, too. If a repair man or anyone of the sort needs to come over for any reason, I always make sure I'm home. I'm always afraid one of the furkids will get out.

Back when I had to call 911 for Randall those few times, I was a nervous wreck when the paramedics were here cuz they kept going in & out and leaving the door wide open. I managed to lock up some of the furkids in the bedrooms, but I couldn't catch all of them. I think the paramedics thought I was some kind of nut cuz I stood watch and had to shut the door every time they opened it.

I hope all goes well!

I have a sign outside of my door about not letting the cats out. This is also helpful when I don't want to open the door, people see the sign and just understand why I won't open the door. I have pictures of the cats on the sign - this draws the attention to the sign.

I, too, have always been concerned if emergency folks had to come in - it's something that I wouldn't really have control over, so I try not to worry. (ha!)

It doesn't matter how scared you know she'll be, it's still a worry! Impossible not to. Hope you found her happy to scold you for allowing those people to make her hide!

She's just fine! It was great to give her a big hug when I got home! I had a note that they had to leave a radon detector in here for a few days (no worry of radon, they said it's just something they're required to do for the inspection) and have to be back "in a few days" to collect it. So I'll have to leave a note out again until they come back. It's nice though to have an idea of how she handled stranger danger. She did good!

I'm glad Holland was ok. Hopefully when they come back, she'll be fine then to

I hate whenever people come in and out of the house. When the house was fixed over I had quite a few heart attacks when I saw all the boards, nails and other dangerous stuff lying around that Lynxx could get hurt with. Luckily they did the outside 1st, and 1 room at a time. Lynxx hated being locked up in a different room each day, but at least he was safe

Whenever someone was here fixing something Lynxx was always watched very carefully. He was never alone with strangers in the house. I did find most of the people fixing things had pets of their own and liked him There were a few he liked and would run over to greet them whenever they were here

We've had many people fixing things in the house in Lynxx's lifetime out of all of them, there was only 1 I didn't trust at all. He made it known he didn't like cats, and he didn't like Lynxx I made sure Lynxx was at my side at all times while he was here. Luna and Midnight were locked in my room. The only time this worker was ever out of my sight was when he had to go up into the attic. Only spiders up there, I don't care what happens to them I was very glad when he finished and left.

We don't let anyone in the house unless 1 of us is home. No one has a key to our house either. That way the cats are always watched by 1 of us. No one can come over and have 1 of the cats sneak out.

Luna and Midnight hide whenever someone comes over. I'm glad they do. I always thought Lynxx was to friendly. Whenever someone is here to fix something, they are locked in my room. Whenever friends or family stop by they take off to their very well hidden hiding spots

Unfortunately with apartments or rentals, you don't have that option. Just the way it is.

Glad she was there and ok! Give that pretty girl a hug for me too. Sucks that they have to come back, but I'm sure Holland will stay inside again. But yes, you'll be worrying again anyway. (Who the heck said having a pet reduces stress???? )

Nice to know they're checking for Raydon. I hope the levels are zero to non-existant.

Just think what having pets AND children does for the stress levels!

Glad everything went well for Holland.

Im the same way where I geek about people being in and out thankfully most people realize that they have to watch constantly because everyone but Herc is a door darter.

ROFL! I don't know...my oldest son is 12 and my youngest is 8. I am not sure I worry about them as much as I do the cats sometimes. I know they can tell me if something bad happens or if they are sick...my kitties can't talk! Now, when I had infants and cats, my stress level was unimaginable!

I hope Holland behaves her pretty little self again when they come back.

I got a call a while ago and they are coming in today to remove the radon detector. I meant to put a note out again but I forgot! I told them on the phone to PLEASE be careful when entering and NOT to leave the door open... Guess who's going home for lunch today... Ugh, I hope this is the last time they have to go into my place for a while.
