Medical Problem..?

Hi everyone, some of you may know that I have been running a lot and thus sweating a lot. I am wondering if this is causing these lumps that I am getting on my legs, my mother (once a health professional) described them as being like chicken pox, I cannot get chicken pox as I had a vaccine many years ago. These could be all manner of things, they remind me of sweat pimples, they are itchy and spread easily, there are a lot over my legs and a few on my back. If anyone could help, with what they are or what to treat them with, that would be great.

Thanks everyone!

Impetigo? Allergy? Poison ivy? Heat rash?

Am I getting warm?

In addition to what Mike said, where on your legs are these bumps?
Do they only happen from running? Like if u took a week off, would you still have them?
Are you running in a country setting with plants that could be brushing against your legs and aggravating them?

Are the "bumps" like a big angry red pimple, or do they have a "head" on them, or are they tiny? Smooth or rough?

Have you tried any creams? (Calamine lotion or benadryl cream)

You can still get chicken pox even if you've had the vaccine. . .it's not very effective. I've known a few people who did, and one kid who even got the disease from the vaccine. So it could be that. Has it been happening for a while, or did it just start? Are the bumps weepy or dry?

None of us are doctors and can't diagnose you. Best to go to a doctor and have it looked at. A rash could be anything from an allergic reaction to a type of lymphoma cancer.

Thanks everyone,

Mike: I think they are more of an allergy
Chris: They are all over my legs, mostly on the lower half but they are spreading, I have stopped running for a few days but they are still popping up. No, I do go out into the bush sometimes but never really close to any plants. They are like very large pimples, they have a head on them, some are smooth but most are rough. I've tried tea-tree oil and aloe vera cream, both have not seemed to work.
Willowy: Thanks for that information, it started about two weeks ago and the bumps are dry.
Nat: I will go to a doctor soon but was just wondering whether anyone here could help me.

blocked sweat glands?

If they are spreading, I'm gonna say probably Chicken Pox. A plant allergy like poison ivy tends to be weepy. Ingrown hairs can also be triggered by sweating excessively, but they don't spread like that, are painful, and become like a white head that you can pop.

Get to a doctor, adults who get chicken pox can suffer complications. Even if you've been vaccinated, you can still get it.

I really hope you can get it cleared up and an answer as to what is causing this. I was at a barbeque a couple of weekends ago and got some terrible, itchy bug bites all over my feet and ankles. It was terribly painful and itchy for three to four days. I had about 57 bites, (I counted them ). It doesn't sound like you have bug bites, but an skin allergy of some sort. Calamine lotion helped my itching as well as Cortizone ointment.
