Slinky-like toys for cats?

Anyone know of any cat-safe slinky toys for cats? My cats discovered a plastic slinky of mine and loves it, but I am afraid they can chew through the plastic, choke on the pieces, or even get themselves tangled with it. They only play with it with my supervision. I have a metal one, but I don't think that's safe on their teeth and could be more dangerous than the plastic

But I am on the hunt for a cat-safe slinky. Any ideas?

My brother has a plastic spiral thing that he took off a really big manual binder, and it is made from similar material as those cat spring toys (but bigger/longer) so it should be fairly safe, so something like that might work? It looks somewhat like a slinky. I'd still watch them when they play with it though, just in case.
