Have a cat outside whos unnamed(...) hes feral and a boy that I need to get done but shows up at random times and I have managed to trap my exferal outside cat(TNR) and a possum but not this guy. theres a clinic end of month that can do him and REALLY want him to go!!!

Saw him tonight and had trap set...Looks like he flipped trap to get the bait and it triggered with no cat.

Setting it up in back tomorrow with bricks around it if I dont get him tonight. He was right in front of my neighbors driveway after this happened.

Oh that is frustrating. But getting closer! !!!!!!

WHAT!!!! That is what a raccoon would do, this is a first for me with a cat, the flipping of the trap. Maybe a coon did do it . Smart, smart kitty. Oh boy, I sure hope the bricks hold it in place. Must be a big, strong boy!!! More vibes for success

Well he tried to do it today in front of me and I had it wedged in SO tight he got nowhere. Made fancy feast/tuna-for humans, bait(it works) And put that in trap and GOT HIM!!!

He went in trap a few times not triggering as he stepped over the trip plate. I was peaking out and getting so annoyed. My outside male and him are NOT friends and need him done.
Calling around to see if anyone's willing to get him in tomorrow if not will make appt for first opening.

Thanks guys!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! You outsmarted him.

Congratulations!

I'm curious, what kind of trap and what this flipping the trap is?

I had once trap that has door that comes from up to down, is useless capturing local ferals as they just lift the door and walk away, they are clever and strong beasts

GOOD JOB!!!!! I have to laugh because I know that "annoyed" ("anxious" for me) feeling when you are watching from the window . PHEW!!! Now to the vet. Much luck today getting into the vet

Thanks
Trap I am using has an angled door when its shut and once shut it will not go up from the inside. It has been used to get multiple cats but this guy....he wanted that food and would try to dig into it from the bars(the bars in back are smaller to prevent this).

He will be going in next week Hardest part of trapping for me is to STAY AWAY from the window. I know its loud enough I will hear the trap trip but I keep wanting to check. Last night I got to see it happen-he had gotten a bit careless.

Set up in a dog crate in our unused bathroom and not a happy camper but at least freedom is his soon enough

JTBO, "flipping the trap" is when they reach in from the outside to get at the food, and trip the plate without them inside the trap.

We've had empty tripped traps or food gone and the trap not being tripped.

How do you prevent this from happening? That's happened to me. I will be TNRing the first Friday in October and November. Four more cats have been coming around to dine at my restaurant, and it's not even 1 star, much less 4! (Seriously, so sad, more foreclosures, evictions from the condos/apartments = more dumped cats.)

I wedged the trap under my truck-thanfully JUST the right size to keep in place. If I had to do it again I would use stakes(droppins) from crate I have and done it in backyard where not much grass. I have also heard of ppl using a tarp or something over top with bricks on either side.

I have never had that happen, just lucky I guess or my ferals are not smart enough to try to knock the trap over for the food. Just want to pass along good luck trapping vibes to you . There always seems to be more stray kitties lately, the poor little darlings
