Cannot use the Link, Email Link or Image buttons

For awhile now, when I click on the "Insert Link" and the "Insert Image" buttons, I'm getting directed to this: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/cli...ieprompt.html? and it tells me that the article is unavailable. There's something there about Kitty Bytes, a free monthly newsletter. I'm not sure what's going on, but something is definitely a little funky.

It was happening when I posted the pictures of Mollipop and Tabby about two weeks or so ago. Yesterday, when I tried to link to our local newspaper articles and pictures of the flooding around here, I got the same thing.

This morning, I tried again.....same thing. It also happens when I click on the "Insert Email Link" button. Very strange.

I can post links and pictures manually without using the buttons, but was wondering if anybody else was having the same problems as me.

Do those buttons no longer work?

Has your browser been updated? Have you tried doing it with another browser? Those buttons don't work with all browsers. IIRC, I had trouble with one or more versions of Opera, and some people had trouble with Internet Explorer.

Check to be sure you have the latest version of Java (6.27) and that you have Javascript enabled in your browser.

I downloaded the latest Java....but still no buttons work. And now I'm getting some kind of a script error in addition to the Cat Site's newsletter page. Will try Google Chrome and see what's going on with that.

Well, I'll be darned! It's works in Google!

I'm thinking that the duck doodoo hit the fan with these buttons when I started using IE 9. That's the only thing I can think of. Fortunately I know how to do links and post images. But it was frustrating.

Thanks!

I've actually been through this. One site I visit was working just fine. Then, they updated their forum software, and several things (like the image button) quit working. When I said this to the forum owner, he got pretty nasty and claimed he hadn't made any changes...although just a few days earlier, he had been bragging about all the changes.

There are so many lines of code interacting on computers, it's a wonder they work at all.

I finally got it working by upgrading to Firefox 7 beta.

Try clearing your cookies and internet cache.

My cookies and temp files are always cleaned upon exiting the browser...I have it set up that way. I always have to sign in to my sites because there are never any cookies.

I really do think that upgrading to IE 9 is what messed things up. If I want to post anything, I'll either just do it manually or use Google.

Thanks everybody!

I just installed IE9 last night, as part of my wipe and restore (I got an annoying spam bot and finally gave up trying to just eradicate it). Let me see what happens.

I agree. It's IE9. When I click on the image icon or the link icon, it opens another page on the CatSite.

I just went to the other site that I had had problems with, and IE9 works OK there, with one exception -- you can't sign in normally. When you type in your user name and password, all you get are blanks. When the sign-in error screen comes up, it works OK.

So, I'd say IE9 isn't ready for prime time, yet.
