Hello, I'm Sheryl. I live in Kansas in a suburb of Wichita with my boyfriend of over 4 years. To the surprise of both of us, in what started as a trip to the Kansas Humane Society to show my boyfriend, Matt, the new facility, we ended bringing home a wonderfully affectionate 5mo old male kitten that we named Chacho. Matt had told me after he decided that we'd get him, that he was going to wait until Christmas to get me a cat but since this little guy just seemed so perfect, I would get my present early. It helped that Matt had fallen in love with him too, he may try to deny it but I hadn't said anything about wanting to adopt a cat that day. He was the one asking me, what cat would be the best match for us and if I thought Chacho (at the time, Carlo) would be a good cat.
Chacho is a handsome light, silvery gray taby with a stunning roman nose, a unique kink at the tip of his tail and a small scar on his nose. The Humane Society didn't know the background on him. Him and his brother were found as strays. Both Chacho and his brother had kinks in their tails. His brother had one in the middle of his tail and towards the tip. My guess is that when the were kittens they had gotten them caught in something. After we got Chacho home, I went to Petco to get a few things and the cashier said that she had a cat, who's mother gave birth in a car engine. The car was started and ended up killing the mother and most of the siblings except for 2 others. The incident had left the remaining kittens with broken tails leaving them kinked. I'm guessing that a similar incident occured with Chacho and his brother considering in March (estimated month of birth) was still really cold here. Luckily whatever incident which caused Chacho's kinked tail, didn't leave him with brain damage like the Petco cashier's cat.
Chacho is extremely affectionate and enjoys following us around and laying on our laps. His favorite toys so far, are the UndercoverMouse, Fling-a-ma-string, and the laser pointer.
We were worried that he was going to get depressed when we had to work because we had gotten him when both Matt and I had two days off and Chacho seemed to be extremely attached to us but those worries were unfounded and he is wonderful when left alone.
