Quite some time ago I had a running joke with one of my friends that I wanted to kidnap the lead singer of a band I really like, I was going to keep him in my basement (I don't even have one, lol).
When I met Mike almost two years ago, I told him about it... this guy is like my little celebrity crush of Canadian music, lol
Anyways, that summer Mike was working the stage at a folk festival here and guess who was playing? The guy I have the crush on. One of our friends that runs a recording studio here was there watching it, Mike told him about my running joke and they BOTH told the guy. They all had a big laugh about it, no harm, no foul - especially since I wasn't there because I had to leave early for work.
Last night, over a year later, we were walking home from an open mic that Mike hosts (appropriately called, Open Mike). We walked past our friend's house/recording studio and who's outside? Our friend and my celebrity crush. Thankfully neither Mike or our friend mentioned it, and the guy either didn't clue in or remember. We had a nice hour long chat and hung out for a bit before heading home.
So everyone remember - it doesn't matter who you joke about things like that to, even if the odds that you'll meet the person are small, it could happen!
