Hey...my cat does the same thing. She drinks a pile of water then she violently vomits it all up...mostly water. I thought it might be the beginning of hairball issues since she's around 16 years old. We haven't taken her to the vet in years (she's an indoor cat); mostly money issues off and on throughout the years have prevented us from bringing her in to the vet regularly. I wonder if hairball med will do the trick. I've also limited the amount of water she has at one time but she always has access to some water. She doesn't seem to always get sick when her water is limited. Also, maybe she's diabetic since she's drinking so much at one time??

Any ideas?? Thanks.

The overdrinking of water is often a sign of diabetes (though can be indicative of other problems). The only way to treat diabetes is with insulin. Unfortunately, you really have no choice but to get her to a vet to find out for sure.

Hairballs don't trigger a bout of drinking water. Cats allowed outside may eat grass, but hairballs wouldn't drive them to drink excessive amounts of water.
