Talk about being one relieved Mommy!!

A few weeks ago I noticed something strange with one of her teeth. My step-dad thought it was a chip right in the front of her tooth; toward the top. I was afraid it was decay! Another person said it looked like something her daughters had that she was told was "normal."

So I got some recommendations for pediatric dentists in our area and took her in. Some kids start going this young; but most don't.

Well it went great!! I had her lay on me and hold her fav stuffed sheep that goes everywhere with us. The dentist was fantastic and so was his staff. He played with her wiht the light and mirror while he looked at her teeth. She only fussed when he used some gauze to wipe down the tooth I was concerned about.

He said it is a chip and that her tooth may have just grown in with a weak spot in the enamel. I remember that tooth did look a little different; but nothing that concerned me before. It isn't decaying so he said just keep brushing as I am and in 6 months I am bringing her back to see if he can put a patch over it to protect it. Hopefully she will sit better to tolerate a little procedure. He said he doesn't like to sedate kids unless the benefits of having it done outweigh having to put them through that.

I was very impressed! They had an amazing mural in the waiting room...it looked like you were almost under the sea for real. They had covers over all the fluorescent ceiling lights with fish too. LO can sign fish and say it too so she was totally into all that.
I'm so glad it went well!! It's very relieving!!

I'm glad the exam went well and that tooth is going to be OK! How scary! Sending you a
to give to your daughter for being such a brave little girl.

Happy to hear it went well. My youngest daughter had what looked like chips out of both her front teeth. Our dentist told us it was common. I never had them sealed. She lost them at age seven, they never did decay. I just made sure they were brushed. Her permanent teeth came in strong and perfect.

Thank you! I'm glad to hear that! She is still at that age that brushing is a twice a day fight. Even when she smiles it's hard to get a good look at those teeth on top.

I was so nervous about taking her with how she fights me sometimes and how she looses it at the pediatrician's. I probably should have titled this thread "DD survived her first dentist appt & SO DID I!!"
