playing/fighting cats (?)

Hey there! About 3 weeks ago my boyfriend and i took in a 6 month old stray male kitty. We have another cat (female) who is 8 years old and while has lived with another cat before, has been alone for about 4 years now. We did all the right things, kept them separate for days then slowly started introducing them over a week...they are both using their litter boxes just fine, eat next to each other and even sleep within the same areas...so here is my question.

Like most kittens, ours wants to play, hunt, tackle etc...and he goes at the adult cat constantly. Our adult cat will chase back, engage in the tackle etc...and even go looking for trouble or teasing the little one into being chased.
But once he does start going after her, she yells, screams and hisses...

are they fighting or playing...is this normal behaviour??

Thanks!

Probably just playing my cats do that too. Also he may be adjusting having another cat around the house. You'll know if he really wanted to hurt her by how his attitude changes. Don't worry but it doesn't hurt to keep and eye on them until they get use to eachtother

That is completely normal cat behavior form the resident cat and "kitten". As long as there is no blood shed, continuous growling, and hissing I would not worry.

If they will eat, sleep, and use the box in the same general area as the other I would not worry at all.
