Why is he doing this?

so cynder has taken to dumping over his dry food bowl, this only started today but he has done it 3 times. He paws at it and then dumps it all over the floor and proceeds to bat all the pieces around the kitchen and eat 1 or 2 of them. It's kinda like he is hunting it. He will bat it around and gets all excited when it moves then go eat it really quickly. Why is he doing this?

Sounds like he's just having fun. I've had two kittens who'd do this from time to time, too, and eventually they grew out of it. If he's making a big mess, maybe consider buying one of those little "feeder" toys -- where you fill a ball with treats, and when he rolls it, a tiny piece comes out.

That is something a lot of kittens do. Most will grow out of it. If this behavior bothers you just get a spill proof dish. Or put a heavy weight like a rock in his present dish.

My DLH Panda takes one pieces of dry food out of her dish at a time and then eats it off the floor. So be glad Cynder does not do that . Pandas method of eating requires lots of clean up in the morning !
