Door Scratching / Meowing.

Hello, new here, don’t know if this has already been answered but i couldn’t seem to find it if it has.

I got a kitten around 2 years ago and then about 3 month later i got a 2nd to keep my first cat company, they are both very loving animals, usually sleep on the bed, follow me around, 1 of them climbs on my chest when im asleep and goes to sleep himself.

Anyway, 1 of my cats doesn’t care for the outside world but the other cries at the door and constantly scratches it, I love my cats and would never want any harm done to them and i feel bad as i know he really wants to go out. The only problem is is i live in a very very busy city, there is no grass around for miles, its all concrete and busy roads, i live next to a road that’s pretty much none stop traffic from 7am until around 8pm as its the road that leads into the city centre (i live around 5mins away from the city centre)

Is there anyway i can persuade my cat that the outside world is not the place for him?

Thankyou in advance.

I have no advice other than saying time will help.

Just don't tease him by letting him out on occasion, or taking him for a walk on a leash. Keep him in 24/7 and (I think) he'll become frightened to go outside eventually (?).

We have 4 that we brought inside last October and they seem to be adjusting to living indoors - no rushing for the door when it opens now.

Also, we were able to build an outside enclosure with a cat door for them to go outside if they want - they still spend most of the time inside.

Being a pet parent sometimes means tough love.
