Let me start off by saying only my strictly indoor cats wear collars. My two indoor/outdoor cats do not. So I do not use a safety collar. I feel my cats are fairly safe in my home. But more importantly if they ever got outside I would want people to know these cats where owned.
Since Panda the DLH is very nervous and most likely would hide from a stranger and might seem feral if outside. l want people to know she is a pet. Loki the F3 Savannah would run down the middle of the road like a dog (he has done this before that is why he is a "house cat") and I want people to see he is owned. So I am afraid they both would lose a break away collar for different reasons.
Neither of my completely indoor cats like there collar and tags. They have just learned to tolerate them. In the beginning they would scratch, bite, and claw them. But with time they get used to them.
But when I take the collars off for forty eight hours when I apply the flea medication and go to put them back on the cats they go threw the above every time

. They need to get used to the collar again in other words

.
Lastly if you want to buy a softer collar that is fine. I am not sure it will help though

.
Hope that made sense and if you need any clarification feel free to ask
