My cat accidentially got out of our house this past Wed morning. We saw her wed. night coming on our back porch to eat, but when i got up to open the door I spooked her and she ran and we havent seen her since. I am starting to lose hope that she will return. what is the longest time that your cat has been gone before it returned home?

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

I had a cat missing for a fortnight once, then it came back. My daughter lost one of hers this spring for 11 days, then he was found alive in a shed. But there are cases of cats missing then found for much longer than that.
What are you doing to try and locate him/help him find his way back? Have you told local vets/shelters/animal organisations? Put posters up in shops/post offices/street (if you are allowed to). If this is his first time outside he will likely not be far from home and be very scared. Put out food each night, sprinkle some of his litter around the garden and path to attract him home. The best time to find him is between 2-4am when he will be loking for food. Go out and sit quietly, call him gently, do not shout, it will scare him more. There are lots of web sites with tips for finding lost cats - my daughter did everything and finally someone found her Bilbo, but only becaus she had put fliers in all the neighbours' houses for a good way around her house.
Good luck, there is nothing worse than no knowing where your pet is.

we have posted flyers today and are going to pass them out in our neighborhood. i have had food out everynight for her. she came back the first night to eat but when i saw her i was so excited to see her I startled her and she took off. i felt good that at least we saw her and she knew where home was but we havent seen her since. she is spayed and we took her in when she was about 8-9 months, she was a stray. she has been with us for 6 months and to be honest never cried to get out or even tried to get out. she was quite content and happy in our home. i have a have a heart trap out with her litter box also. i will try to spread some of her litter today. i miss her so. thanks so much. i am trying to keep my hopes up that she returns.

Is she microchipped? Do let local organisations know about her, in case she is taken in by someone.

Don't give up. I agree that your cat is nearby.
Please look at this website: www.catsinthebag.org
It will give you lots of good advice and strategies for getting your cat home.
You're already using a Hav-a-Hart trap which is great, and is recommended by that site.
Don't be surprised that your cat isn't coming to you or is spooked when she sees you. That's a very common reaction for cats who've accidentally gotten out of their houses. But chances are very good that she is near and will continue to stay close to home, even if you don't always see her.
I'm sure the site will help you. Hope you get your kitty back home soon.

Since your cat was seen, it's most likely that she is still in the vicinity! Once my cat went missing for 5 days, but I've heard of cats who come back after years. How long has your cat been gone?
I know what a terrible and worrying experience having a missing cat is.
Sending vibes that she comes home soon, safe and sound!

You are doing all the right things with the litter box and all!
Have you tried looking outside at night with a flashlight? You can find them really easily that way because of the way their retinas reflect the light. Also, I've heard Kentucky Fried Chicken (no skin) is irrestible for cats.
