Mondays Question of the Day

Thread Starter
After going to the new Chinese Buffet restuarant last night my question for you all today is.....

Do you like to eat at buffet style restuarants?

This was my first time at one and it wasnt what I expected but it was great being able to try little bits of everything rather than getting just one dish of something

Nope, I hate pretty much everything in the buffets so it's no good to me.

Plus I read an article once about all the nasty stuff they found in it, on the spoons, around the station, etc etc and that finished it off for me

No. I don't like buffets. I especially don't like the way I feel when I've eaten at one.
Also-the whole "How many people have been at this tray" thing gives me the willies.

I like buffets when I'm with a group. It's convenient for everyone. There's no waiting for everyone to decide what to order. You know how much it will cost since there's a set price per person. And you can eat as much as you want, the food you want.

We just went to an Indian buffet and loved it. So much tasty food to choose from, and such good value. I like buffets because you can try a little bit of everything that takes your fancy.

I don't.. the thought of hundreds of people picking at the food.. even the sneeze shield isn't always effective. I just feel grossed out.
There are usually very few options in buffets that I'll actually eat. I don't eat fish/seafood, beef or pork, so unless they have a lot of chicken or vegetarian dishes it isn't worth it for me.

Funny that this is the question today, we went to a new Chinese buffet last night and it was delicious!!!
Not really. We went to a chinese buffet for date night on Saturday because Rob *loves* Chinese food (whereas I only want to eat it maybe 1x a month). There wasn't really that much to pick from that I like at the one we went to (I mostly had just fried rice!) There is a HUGE place that did a million dollar renovation near where he works though that has anything you could imagine on their buffet though so I don't mind too much going there.

Most of the time I'd rather just order a meal that I know I want and hasn't been picked over by a bunch of people before me!

It's not my favorite kind of dining, but I won't say no if someone suggests we go to one.
I love a good buffet (good being the operative word).
Just depends, but not always is my favourite,...

Cool & Delicious question!....

I love going to buffets!
Good ones anyway.
I'm lucky, we have so many casinos so close, so many buffets to choose from.
For me though, its all about the green and fruit salads selections, and the deserts

We have a great Chinese buffet in town, limited selection, but the food is awesome and they have a sushi table (odd for a Chinese place).
The sushi chef stays at her station, makes a nice variety in limited quanity.

They also sell sushi take out priced per pound, which is very cheap as sushi goes.

Actually we plan to go to our local Chinese buffet tomorrow for lunch. We go there occasionally, and every time we go we say we're never coming back because we eat too much. But donkeys never learn! We don't overdo it, but once in a while is nice.
They're OK, I guess, but just OK. I don't mind Chinese buffets, simply because I do like Chinese. My sister and I will sometimes go for a late lunch because our DHs aren't crazy about them. But even we don't do it very often.

But that's pretty much it. The idea of eating something that several people may have handled (customers, I mean, and likely little kids to boot...because many parents are too busy feeding themselves to watch their kids) doesn't thrill me.

For the most part, we stay away.

I love Chinese food, but I haven't been to a buffet in a long time.

I went out for dim sum a while ago and really liked it. They bring all the little dishes out on a cart, so you can sample (but not touch, for those who are squeamish!) everything.

I love buffets because you can have a little bit of everything, and go back for seconds (or thirds). My favorite ones are Chinese, but I'm game for just about any kind. I also like cafeterias, because you can see what the food looks like before ordering it.

I haven't been to a buffet in years, except when I went to some casinos several months back. Casinos, to me, have the best buffets.

I love going to Chinese Buffets, you get to try so many different dishes without having to commit to a whole portion of each. I do get nervous about how many other people have picked at it too though .....

We go to the Chinese buffet here sometimes. It's good if you want something quick and cheap. It's $7.99 per person and with a pop for my husband, tax and a tip its about $22.

We only just found out there is a restaurant with a buffet that has a wide variety of food in our city. We haven't tried it yet, but are planning on going on the 18th for my husbands birthday.

We're planning to go to a Chinse buffet tomorrow for lunch. Don't go too often as of course we eat too much. Every time we go we say we're never coming back -- that's "after" we stuff ourselves. So once in a while is great, but certainly no more than once a month, if that.

We like to go to the Spirit Mt Casino for the buffet occasionally. Lots of different shrimp dishes for hubby and I love, love, love the prime rib! *drools*

I'm shamed to admit it, but I do enjoy and occasional trip to the chinese buffet or the Golden Corral. I'm addicted to their dinner rolls

Yes (most of them, anyway).

Had lunch at the Chinese buffet today -- it was good, but as usual we vowed we're not going back again (at least for a while). Everything looks so good and we always eat too much. No dinner tonight!
