Introducing with only one room availible

I have a 7 month old, Trixie, she is very possessive and follows me and my boyfriend everywhere (mostly me) its clear she is lonely when we go out so we have decided to take in a new kitten from the same queen cat.

The problem is this - we only have one room available and cant use the bathroom as it is tiny. My theory is to borrow a friends old puppy pen she used to stop her puppy eating everything when she had to go out. Its big enough for a carry case a pillow bedding thingy litter tray and food. Since Trixie does tend to roam the building the kitten could be let out whilst Trixie is roaming.

I was just wondering if there where any quicker methods to introducing our kitties since I would rather not keep the new kitten in the pen longer than I have to.

also Trixie has spent plenty of time with my friends puppy and got on with him straight away so she is a very social cat.

thanks for reading all this and any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I have never used the methods of introducing each other. Then I started reading here how to. Every new cat I have ever gotten was brought in and let to make themselves at home. I never had a problem. They might circle each other or growl/hiss at each other but within a few hours they were fine. Tolerated each other, used the same cat litter boxes (never had anyone have accidents because of it). Maybe I'm just lucky.

well when Trixie met my friends puppy we didn't do any of the introducing methods other than having the puppy on a lead and they get on great, hopefully all will go well.

Thank you for taking the time to read my essay and replying.

A big dog crate works fine. Put the new animal into it and put the crate into an out-of-the-way place, covered most of the way with a blanket. That is as good a separate room as you can get, without actually having a separate room.

Thanks for the advice, Pixie is currently in her pen and seems quite fine in there, there is room for me to sit in with her and she knows I'm mummy already
Trixie is rather wary and keeps growling at the pen even though she cant see the kitten, with some hissing when she has seen her but in general she seems to be ignoring the pen.

I have been doing the scent swapping and feeding Trixie close to Pixies pen, all seems to be going well.

Hi.. I don't know if you want to spend the $$, but the "Kritter Condos" are fantastic for in-house introductions. They also serve as a great way to give your cats some outdoor time and fresh air! I have one and love it. Check the link below:

They look awesome, unfortunately I don't have the money to get one at the moment but I will defiantly keep it in mind for the future. Thank you
