Hi I am new to this forum and i need help with my cat. Miss Kitty followed my daughter home from school one day and we started to care for her. my vet told me at the time she was probably about 9 months old, she arrived with no tags or collar. We have had her for 6 months and have come to love her as she loved us. It was wonderful watching her gain trust in us and become part of our family. she has been a house cat since her arrival 6 months ago. 3 days ago when my husband was letting our dog back in she got out of the house. He went out to get her and she tried to go back into the house but for some reason my husband had the screen door closed. she ran into the screen door and then ran over to the neighbors and they couldnt find her. that evening i saw her come onto the porch where i had food out for her. I was so excited to see her, i jumped up and yelled miss kitty, went to open the door and she ran away. I am heartbroken because 2 days have passed and i havent seen her. I have food and water out. I put her litter box out on the porch today. i have looked around the closests neighbors home in the landscaping. I have let all the neighbors around us know. we are going to go out tonight with a light to see if we can find her somewhere. i thougt for sure she would be back after I saw her that first night. can anyone give me any suggestions????

First off, has she been spayed? That may be part of the reason she darted. If she hasnt been spayed, when you do get her back in, you will need to have her seen by the vet.

Keep doing what you are doing, she was startled and may be a bit scared right now. My sister had a very similar scenario happen with one of her kitties and he reappeared after 2 months....who knows where he was during that time. If she's friendly, someone may have taken her in too.

Im so sorry, its extremely stressful, I know. I'm sending vibes that she comes home tonight.

Yes, she has been spayed. she also has a safety collar with a tag with her name and my phone number. It has been very warm here the past 2 days and i am now worried about dehydration also. thanks so much for your kind words. i am keeping my fingers crossed. my friend also gave me a have a heart cage. we were thinking of putting tuna out in a dish in that tonight just in case miss kitty would decide to make an appearance???

Tuna is a good idea, and so is Kentucy Fried Chicken...they say cats can't resist it. I also find I have good luck looking for lost cats after dark with a flashlight. Their eyes will reflect the flashlight.

Hi and welcome to TCS.

you have a farm/tractor supply nearby? I would grab a trap and set it on where you last saw her by house. Tnr/shelter group may lend you one for a night or two.
