If you wear glasses, have you tried this site?

I wanted to share a website, just in case others don't know about it.

This summer, I discovered Clearly Contacts. The American counterpart is Coastal Contacts. Although both their names refer to contacts, I have not ordered contacts from them as of yet...just glasses.

They have GREAT deals on glasses. They often offer free glasses promos to new customers (occasionally to previous customers). In these promos, you get frame and lenses for free, except for shipping, which is $10. So for $13 including tax I got a pair of glasses shipped to my door. You can upgrade the lenses (with coatings, polarization, transitions, or thinner lenses) for what I think are pretty reasonable prices (I paid about $33 for glases with anti-scratch, UV protection, and anti-reflective coatings, and $120 for thin transition lenses with the same coatings).

Usually, the frames for these free glasses promos are somewhat limited. However, right now, they have a sale where you can pick any frames (up to $199, including higher-end designer frames), for $38, including standard 1.5 index lenses and shipping. Again, you can upgrade lenses, etc. if you want.

I've ordered 5 pairs of glasses from CC this summer (yes, 5...I'm trying to get away from wearing contacts everyday) and have found the service to be great. Most of my glasses have arrived within 5 business days, with one pair taking a little longer (but they emailed me to let me know). I notice no quality between these glasses and the ones I got from the optician.

As for how you know if you'll like them...they give you a bunch of measurements for every pair of glasses on their site. If you currently have a pair that you like, or have tried some on at a retail store, you can measure those ones and compare the measurements, as well as the shape. If you get them and don't like them, they offer hassle-free returns and they pay for the return shipping. I just called for a return (first one...I should have known better than to order plastic-rimmed frames) and they emailed me a postage label right away. They also set me up with an exchange pair for the same price, even though the coupon I used was expired.

I don't think I'll ever go back to buying glasses in-store, as I've purchased 5 pairs of glasses for the same price I paid for 1. I also think they have pretty good prices for contacts as well...but I have not purchased them.

Anyway, the web addresses are www.clearlycontacts.ca or www.coastalcontacts.com.

I can send you a referral email for 10% off your first order at ClearlyContacts, but you'd have to PM me your email address for that (I also get a $50 credit for each referral who ends up ordering).

Anyway, I hope this information helps someone. Before CC, I had been wearing a pair of glasses that were almost 10 years old and a couple prescriptions ago.

Edited to add: Just noticed that the coupon code for the $38 promo doesn't seem to be on the main page consistently...the coupon code is 38ALLINCA (ClearlyContacts) or 38ALLIN (CoastalContacts). Also, Canadians can try using my referral link if you want to help me get credits: http://www.clearlycontacts.ca/fb-inv...?id=6308267007 (mods, if this is against the rules, please feel free to remove the link...the goal of this post is to share the website, not make $$$).

Thanks, the site looks awesome! Definitely I will check them out for glasses and contacts. I'd love to have some prescription sunglasses for my trips to Texas.

I've ordered glasses from another site, and it worked out well...once I got my prescription right. Be sure you copy it correctly! I got a minus where there should have been a plus, and that was sooooooooo wrong!

The one number usually missing from your prescription that you get from your doctor is your PD, or pupillary distance. Without that, your glasses won't feel right, no matter how accurate everything else is. It should be a number somewhere around 60, give or take. Be sure to get that number from your doctor, if you plan on ordering glasses online.

Wow, that site sounds awesome! I just got a new pair of glasses, but usually I wear contacts. I've actually only had two pairs in my life.

When I get my next glasses, I plan on going through Zenni Optical, many of my friends have and they are very happy.

SWEET!!!!!!

I actually need new glasses soon so I will look more thouroughly when it actually gets to that time, my biggest worry is they wont look good on me.

Pretty much all the glasses I like don;t look good on me. I had to try on about 50 pairs of glasses last time before I found a pair that looked decent on me.

Zennioptical.com has them starting at $6.95 for frames and lenses. + $5 for shipping. Quality is great!
