Do I have to put it on them every six months? I mean they are indoor cats and aren't they less likely to get fleas being indoors.

In order for Frontline or any other topical flea medication (Advantage, Petarmor etc) to work effectively they must be applied on a four to five week basis.

As far as flea's in your home that depends on each person's situation. While an indoor cat is MOST likely NOT going to bring flea's into the home themselves, there are many other ways for fleas to get into your home.

FWIW: I asked my vet yesterday when I took Hobbes in if he'd like me to put the boys on Revolution. He does not particularly want me to since the boys are indoors and I have no dogs. According to him, the less medication, the better. So I am not going for it. I guess it will also depend on your georgraphic location. WHy not give your vet's office a call and ask what they think?

If you don't have any fleas, you don't need flea meds . If you see a flea, yeah, definitely apply some fleas meds right away to prevent an outbreak. But if you don't see any, why treat?

In the paperwork for Frontline, it says it works against fleas for 3 months. So unless you need protection against ticks as well, there's no reason to apply it more often (unless it stops working and you see fleas). And applying it every 6 months isn't likely to do much good.

I saw that paper work too. But clients at the vets office I work at swear it does not work that long. I can say from first hand experience I have never had Frontline Plus work for more then seven weeks. I do find that paper work very interesting. I have also noticed that paper work is NOT in all boxes at least where I live . I wonder why.

That is very interesting. I think pesticides are required by law to have that kind of paperwork, telling you how to use it, what not to do, etc. I know that counterfeit flea meds are a problem. I wonder if the ones without paperwork are the counterfeits :

I am sure it is quite possible that some of the flea medication in my area is counterfeit. So many other things can be so why not flea medication . But seriously I know many people besides myself who have gotten "counterfeit" flea medication from many different sources. So maybe it is fairly common ?

But if it is "counterfeit" is works fine and has caused no harm to my cats or anyone's cat I know.

My cats go outdoors and frontline used to last for about a month. We have a flea problem right now though, and it's less than a month since I used it - could be resistance built up to it, I've read that this is happening.

We treat our dog and the furred cats. I also cycle what meds are used on them. Fleas in certian areas will build a resistance from year to year and topicals that worked will not be as effective.

Last summer Frontline would not work at all. We had a flea issue because my husband treated our lawn later than normal and our dobe (rest her gentle soul) ended up infested. That was a nightmare, its also why we have wood floors thoughout the house now.

Right now Tulip (the pit) is being treated with something for heartworm, intestinal parasites and fleas. The cats are being dosed with Revolution. Not a flea to be seen
