RIP my sweet Alex

My dear sweet Alex passed away Saturday night. We have been battling liver problems for a couple of years, so I knew it was coming, but it doesn't make it any easier.
He had been meowing more than usual during the day. That evening he threw up and couldn't stand to get away from it. (of course it was late on Saturday night) I got a warm wet cloth and cleaned him up, and wrapped him in his favorite blue towel. Hubby got a nice box for him to nestle in, and we laid him in there so he wouldn't thrash around and hurt himself. I sat with him, petting him, and talking to him for about an hour. I told him how much we loved him, and what a great kitty he was. Then I gave him permission to go to the Rainbow Bridge, where all my other pets would be waiting for him. In a very short time, his breathing got shallow, and then he passed quietly.
We buried him in the backyard with the other beloved pets that have gone to the bridge. My other two cats are smothering me with love. They know I'm sad.
Alex was over 23 years old. I will miss him terribly.
Good bye my sweet one...

Twenty-three years attests to the love and care you gave him. It must be incredibly hard to have had to part with him. RIP, Alex.

Thank you all for your kindness. I also wanted to say that Alex would never have lived this long if it werent for CatSite members who helped me when he was so sick a couple of years ago. I never heard of assisted feeding and my vet didn't recommend it. ( I have since gotten a new vet )
Whenever I have a cat question, I come here first. Thanks to all,
Sierra

His reward is now being with all his buds again. An amazing age for a kitty!

We all want our loved ones at our side when we pass, just like he had.

God Bless Alex and you.
