She has a red bald patch the size of her ear on her chest, and I was really afraid it was ringworm, which isn't completely out of the question yet
. I didn't chat about it because I was pretty freaked out and worried, on top of it we had Hurricane Irene
.
She is completely terrified of strangers touching her, but she was so good. She was so scared, even escaped when the girl tried to weigh her without me
! The assistant was trying to catch her and I knew that was going to happen, she finally ran to me and I helped weigh her.
The vet said it doesn't look like ringworm, but did a fungal culture to make sure. He said he thinks it's Feline Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex, a skin disorder kind of like psoriasis. The area was shaved, cleaned, and she had a cortisone shot. I have antibiotics to give her twice a day, and an antibiotic cleanser every 24 hours. She just had her first does of liquid antibiotic by syringe and wasn't to happy
, but she is my little trooper!
I can't tell you all how proud I was of my angel, and how happy she was when she finally got home
She had what I call Viagra tail for an hour

It was right after the earth quake and right before the hurricane, so it makes sense. I'm sure me being a nervous nanny didn't help
.
Yeah, when she is really happy and content, she has the major stiffy, Viagra tail

Viagra tail! LOL!

I hope it's nothing serious with Maia, not even the feline psoriasis. Bless her heart, she did good!

Going to the vet is soooo hard on our poor kitties! But I'm glad to hear Maia was a good girl and I hope her skin condition clears up soon!

Aww, poor scared Maia! Glad she behaved well at the vet though, maybe she was so good BECAUSE she was scared? Who knows. My girls are great at the vet too and always make me proud.

Best of luck with the skin test results and all the meds. Feel better Maia, and keep that tail up!

Maia and I thank you all so much for the kind thoughts and responses
. If anyone knows me, they know that Maia is my world, and I am hers, so I can't ever let her down
.

She is acting a little off, sleepy, lost her appetite yesterday, just seems a bit uncomfortable. But she isn't licking at the area like she was, it looks like its healing slowly. Fingers crossed for a negative fungal test result!
