Poop in food tray

I've been taking care of a feral/stray cat colony for over 16 months. Around eight cats routinely show up every day/evening. By and large, the cats all get along; the vast majority are males.
I've noticed a new kitten, roughly four months old, but she/he usually comes late and is very skittish so I don't see it often.
I routinely put dry food in a cookie sheet under my car. (By now, all the cats recognize my car, no matter where I park it ).
For the first time ever, when I came out the next morning, some cat had pooped in the sheet. Any idea why? Could it have been the new kitten? The stool looked normal.
Thanks.

Sorry, but you adding that the stool looked normal was quite funny. A normal looking stool is good news to us stray/feral lovers .

I bet is it is the new little kitten, filling up on food, then using it as a cat pan??? Or possibly someone marking the tray Maybe switch it up to using a large ceramic cat bowl or dog dish for a little while until whoever is doing the "deed" gives it up.....

Thanks. Yeah, I'd never seen poop from a feral, only from Ritz, my own Love Bug.
Poop looked normal to me, as opposed to strange looking poop: there is a raccoon who helps himself. So initially I was afraid it was a raccoon.
Kitten hasn't been around recently.

It can be also a statement, if one cat has eaten all the food, some other can make poop statement from situation, probably not very common, but surely does happen, I know a person that got statement to his pillow on his bed.

Thanks. This actually makes sense, given the personalities of some of the cats. And yes after feeding them for a year, they DO have personalities

Since you mentioned raccoons (those little houligans), yes, it is possible that it was raccoon poop. I had raccoons pooping in my feral shelter last winter, and they would go right by the feed bowls. It was a normal/healthy looking poop too . I know my ferals did not do that, they always keep their shelter clean.

A friend who knows quite a lot about wild life indicated that raccoon poop would, at this time of year, have lots of seeds in it.
No seeds in this poop.
But, we'll see; haven't seen the kitten again, who might be the culprit.
Thanks.

Oh Cindy , now, did you inspect the poop and search for seeds You make me smile . Anyway, the poop in my shelter did not have seeds, but this was February - March. I don't know if that would be true 100% of the time, as raccoons eat all sorts of things this time of year too.
