Hi. I am new to this forum. We lost our 6-1/2 year old male 'Baby' 2 weeks ago.....so sad. Yesterday tho, we adopted 2 kittens..a male & female. They are in our front bedroom...all set up & adjusting wonderfully. Our 7 year female 'Josie' has not met them yet. how do I do this to cause the least amount of stress for Josie..Please help. Josie did not seem to like Baby much but they never fought or anything like that. Josie is more aloof & Baby was such a little gentleman, he let her do what she wanted....
WEll, anyway, how & when do I introduce our kittens to Josie? Thanks

Dear Kathy; First of all, WELCOME!
:blubturq:

(please, take the time to go to the Lounge and introduce yourself and get a "Warm Welcome" from other members.

To address your inquiry: Has Josie ever been a Mom herself? If she has the new kittens may trigger her "natural instincts" and she will take to them immediately. . . .(we can hope)

If not, and she remains "Aloof" or "Cranky" the the best thing to do is to expose her to the new babies gradually. In your presence and for shor to increasing periods of time. Fee them seperately so that Josie never feels she is competing for food with them. Also try putting a t-shirt or similar that Josie has slept on in with the kittens and vice/versa; also do the same with something that has your scent on it so that both the kittens and Josie associate you with them. (does this make sense? I mean did I explain it well enough?)

Hope everything works out. I am sure there are other members with even more suggestions that will be eager to help you also. Keep us informed, and, again, we are PLEASED to have you with us.
