Question of the day 28/8/2011

If you could have your dream house anywhere in the world, what type of house would it be and where?

A house on the edge of the city. Close enough to get things fast when I need them but far enough away that I am out of the rat race.

I would like a split level house...with a cleaning woman.

Somewhere where it doesn't get snow and is always above 0 degrees.

I like my area; it's my house I don't like. We live in central PA and we have the four seasons. Sometimes we may not get enough spring to suit us or sometimes we'll go right from summer to winter (seems like it anyway). And sometimes our winters seem to last forever. But overall I like where I live. (Our kids keep talking about moving to North Carolina....I do think that, if they do, it won't be long before we follow them there.)

Ask me this question sometime in January and I'll tell you that I've heard Belize is really nice and I'm ready to move there!

Our house is a small bi-level. Two bedrooms (we created one larger master bedroom from two bedrooms). Only one bath (which really is good enough for the two of us). There's enough land that we can maintain it and don't feel overwhelmed by mowing lawn and gardening.

I'd love to have an older house...two or three stories, with a large wrap-around front porch. A huge kitchen with a fireplace and plenty of room for about 20 people to sit around a huge table. Plenty of pantry space and lots of room for me to cook and bake in. A couple more bedrooms so that more people can come visit with us. Another bathroom would be nice.

Oh, and I'll second that cleaning lady.

(Actually, I wish there was somebody close by who would be willing to do my housecleaning and that I could cook for. I'd gladly swap cleaning for cooking and baking.)

A modern log cabin house with a loft and a huge fireplace, built on about 20 acres.

I want two.

One fairly normal house in Hawaii, on Oahu, in a suburb of Honolulu, looking out on the ocean.

One large log cabin in Jacson Hole, Wyoming, for spending Christmas.

A "Boat in Belize," Winchester?

I would love a place in the area I am now, but a little further inland so I can own a bit of land and avoid flooding. The house itself wouldn't be that big, I'd make my own floor plans and decorate it exactly how I wanted to. It would be solar powered. I'd also have my own huge garden, a swimming pool, duck pond, goats, silkie chickens, a pet pig, and lots of cats, of course!

I love the area I live in, but would love to move out of town a bit on about 10 acres in the local foothills. I would also like to have a 1-story (with a cleaning service included). I would love a place to have horses again Not much to ask, right? :P

I would love to move to Australia. I am not going to be picky so any place on the content works for me .

I would stay in my same area (Cutler Bay, FL) except I really would like this one house nearby that is right on the bay. It's 2 stories and has about a mile long drive way from the main road.

A lake house on Skaneateles Lake in upstate New York. There was a house for sale last year or so up there, on 40 acres. It was about 3-4000 square feet as well, and rather cheaply listed! I used to love going on vacation there.

But, I will also take a lake house up in Maine, which is something we're looking into doing - though making it a rental, not a year round residence.

I would want to have 3 houses. One where I live now, but more so in the outlying areas. Maybe a 3 br with a great kitchen. And a cleaning lady.

One in the mountains where I can see the stars at night. A big fireplace to drink hot chocolate by. And a cleaning lady.

And one at the beach, where I can walk down to the shore and watch the sun set over the ocean..... And a cleaning lady!

A huge mansion some where in Vermont

Ok, I think "dream house" comes with a cleaning lady (hence the "dream" part of it lol). Did I mention I want a horse stable, and a stable boy? Dark hair, blue eyes preferably, but really, any would do....
