I have a 5 (I think) week old kitten. He's very small but a friend gave him to us because his mama got poisoned and stopped producing milk so we took him and I bottle fed him for about a week then let him drink out of a bowl. I started him on dry food this week because his teeth are pretty well strong now. The last few days he has bloated up pretty bad, his sides are protruding. He really looks pregnant lol. I was wondering, what could this be? I called my vet and they said it's normal in kittens and I shouldn't worry but I can't help but to worry. Should I take him to be seen sooner?

Here's a picture

It sounds like it could be worms. What are you using to bottle feed the little guy? KMR?

I think it's worth a vet visit not only to check for worms, but to get a general health check. congratulations on your new kitty! What's his name?

Yes, PetAg KMR powder then I started him on liquid Hartz KMR.

Thank you! We named him Tommy.

I made an appointment for first thing Monday morning. If it is worms, he must have alot because the poor fellow is pretty swollen

At 5 weeks, he should still be getting lots and lots of canned food with KMR added to it for extra nutrition. You can supplement with dry, but let him have lots of yummy canned kitten food. As for the swollen belly, it's most likely worms, so it's a good thing you're getting him to the vet on Monday.
