Gosh, can you believe this is the last Friday of August? This summer sure seems to be flying by!

I received a phone call the other night from a woman I haven't heard from in quite a few years. She just wanted to get back in touch and we had the nicest conversation. It was wonderful to hear from her.

My question this morning is.....

If you could "reach out and touch someone", who would be that person? And why that particular person?

Actually it's funny you ask this question because yesterday we had a work function and I really had a great time with this girl that works with us now. She started in January and I have never said a word to her for some reason.

Anyway, she lives in this city alone with no family or friends and I feel like we hit it off. I am trying to think of how to become friends with someone as an adult and it not be awkward

I would say my deceased boyfriend. The reason is I miss him very much. Today is a year to the day he passed away
. So I would like to know how he is enjoying heaven and if he saved a spot for me
.

Sorry if I polluted the thread.

That's actually a tough question. I think it's a tie between my Dad, who passed away in 1993, and his sister, my Aunt Mary, who passed away in
2009. I adored both of them, and would give anything be able to talk to them once more.

My coworker who's an absolutely sweetheart, and is very brave and strong. She's going through Chemo for Breast Cancer. I want to be there for her in every step of the way.

I did not mean to turn this into a thread about "talking" to a person someone loved that have passed away
. I am sorry for everyone who lost someone they loved.

Oh honey, I don't think you "turned" the thread at all; my first thought was my parents who have both passed. I would give anything to be able to pick up the phone and call heaven and talk to them for 5 minutes. The things you take for granted for so long are the things you miss the most. And, I'm so sorry about your boyfriend, yesterday must have been so hard for you
.

As for people that I actually could "reach out and touch", there are so many! I'm terrible about keeping in touch with others. One person I really have to call is Jenn. I still consider her one of my best friends (I don't make friends easily but we just clicked from the first moment we met.) We were so close for so long even though she lives in Florida now and I live in WV (we worked together in Guam). We were in each others weddings and talked constantly for a while, but life got crazy and I haven't talked to her in almost 2 years. She doesn't do facebook and only checks her email a few times a year so phone is really the only way. I usually plan to call her on the weekend, then the weekend comes and goes and I think "well, there's always next weekend".....yeah, I'm going to call her tonight. Thanks for the question! Really made me think about things.

Thank you for saying I did not turn this into a morbid post. Since that was not my intention at all.

Thank you for the hugs. I think today is worse due to the hurricane actually. But yesterday was emotionally draining for sure.
