Yes; in the midst of hurricane prep I'm getting a haircut. A big one! I may very well walk into the salon tomorrow and let the girl have at it!
I don't generally like my hair above my shoulders; but I had it that way once and it was cute. As long as I blow-dried it. If I let it air dry (which I do most days) it kind of poofed out.

The time I did that I donated around 11" to Locks of Love. I don't think I quite have enough to do that this time though. But I'm dying to cut it! It's so long I wake up with it wrapped around my neck feeling like it's choking me! And I lean back on it when I sit in a chair or the car and it's annoying. It starts to hurt my neck always having to pull hard to loosen it and things like that. Its been nearly a year since my last cut...so I'm way overdue! I just hate spending $$ on that.

So I have something exciting to look forward to instead of the weather! I just hope I like it!

Good luck!

I had really long hair in high school, but these days I'm opposite of you - if it gets too much past my shoulders it drives me INSANE!

LOL! Sometimes I can understand why. It's just easier for me to manage it when it's long enough to pull up! When I was in middle school I had hair down to my butt. Then I started getting headaches from that.

My hair is halfway down my back. I love having long hair. I've only had it very short once-during the whole "Dorothy Hamil" era...I have a really small head compared to my broad shoulders, so the hair makes me look less abnormal.

I used to have really long hair myself. It was such a pain as I was getting ready for work in the morning.I turned 35 and decided enough was enough.Went to the beauty shop and off it came and I have never looked back!Wash and go is what I have and it's wonderful!I can't ever imagine having long hair again.

I've been thinking of getting my hair cut again too. It's about halfway down my back now. But it's so easy to 'do' when it's long, just brush it and I'm good to go. With short hair, I have to wet it down, comb it, hope it dries ok (i hate hair dryers)...

One tip to share- I always put my hair in a loose braid at night before going to bed, it's much easier to brush in the morning.

I'm sure you will look lovely. My daughter just recently had her hair cut from just below the waist to the top of the shoulders. She looks amazing.

Thanks.... I only took a few pics on my cell and I've already pulled some back. Too busy to have it in my face! I might be able to get one posted later tonight. It looks pretty good. It takes some getting used to. The salon was running behind because of the storm coming. It feels FANTASTICS! I just hope my DD is ok with it!

I chopped mine off two years ago, and STILL find myself putting too much conditioner in my hand.
It does take some getting used to! But showers are a SNAP.

Oh I've done that before Laurie!! I tend to let my hair get super long and then go chop a bunch off. So hard to break the habit! Esp if your half asleep in the shower. (I once put the conditioner on my face...)

LOL, sorry, don't mean to laugh at that one.

I used to do the chop for locks of love every 2-3 years (it got longer as I got older). But I'd chop it from sitting on it to shoulder-blade length.
Going from sitting on it to having my hair sit on my shoulders was... weird.

I was going to point out that you only need 8 inches to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. . .but you've probably already had the haircut. I've cut my hair for donation twice, once about 10 inches and once about 8 inches, but I still haven't sent the ponytails in
(the salons I went to didn't have a program for sending them in). I don't think the hair "expires" or anything but I really should get to it.

I cut my hair off last year, it was about down to my waist. I went gradually, though, from the long hair to a little longer than shoulder length, then shorter and shorter every time I get it cut. I was to experiment with super short hair at least once but I think my main cut will be a bit longer. One problem I have is that my hair grows super fast. At least an inch a month, I think! That sounds great but it also makes any kind of style hard to maintain. I maybe find the time to get a haircut once every 3-4 months and by then I'm all shaggy.

Ok; here is the best one I took on my phone. This was not long after leaving the salon; while running my last hurricane prep errands. It doesn't look bad at all here.... But it's right at a length where when it air dries; the ends flip out...like 60s style? And because it weighs less; it has more body. You'd think that was a good thing...it's not.
It looks good if I can blow it dry. I probably should have left a few more inches on. Eh; it'll grow back. And next time I wont get it cut the day before a hurricane hits...

That is adorable!! It really frames your face. Did you get it colored too or is that your natural color? Your hair looks so healthy compared to mine.

I really need to get my hair cut and colored. Right now it's almost down to my waist and the grey really needs to be covered up. I don't have a lot of grey, but enough to really depress me
. I would like to go short but I, like someone else who posted, have a small head so short hair makes me look like I have a shrunken head. Plus, the shorter it is the more my hair has a mind of it's own. You're right, body is not always a good thing!

Of course the last time my hair and scissors met was almost 2 years ago, and that was when I just got fed up, pulled my hair into a ponytail at the top of my head, and started hacking away. Then I walked over to my MIL's house and said "fix it, please".
