Hey Guys

our son (cat) was diagnosed with cists on his kidneys 2 years ago, since then his creatine and urea have risen, in the last few weeks he has also crashed.

he had the flue two months ago and has only just recovered, we took him in for a checkup last week and his blood levels have sky rocketed.

when we took him for his checkup, his creatine was 500 and droped to 390 after having been on a drip for 3 days and his urea is off the scale >46.4.

his levels a week later are even worse, creatine today was 1025 and urea is still off the scale. (unreadable).

he is still on forketor 2.5, also started SubQ fluids today, and was on KD but now on a different special diet.

he is only 3 years old. still eating and drinking, friendly, playing. but some zones out and is lazy (very placid cat usualy).

any ideas would be great.

..........

Update, 26/08/2011

We are giving him 60ml of subq in the mornings and evenings, also give him his fortekor 2.5. He Hates his Zantac liquid so I'm not sure if I will give it to him anymore! Might try to put it over some food! (for stomach acid/bad breath).

He comes and goes, still cleans him self but just zones out day dreaming more than usual.

I will prob take him for another blood test over the next few days, coincideribg he went from 500 to 1000+ creatine in a week I can only imagine the results! He wasn't on subq during that period.

Thanks for any advice

Don't know if you've already read this thread concerning CRF, but it has TONS of info in it:

http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=119727

I have a CRF cat, but his creatine is in the normal range..it's his BUN that is too high. Plus, your figures are probably in a different format than here in the U.S., because my guy's creatine is 2.6, which is WAY lower than you boy!
Anyway, I don't have much advise other than to do what your Vet recommends, since you are already doing the special diet and the sub-q's, plus the fortekor (not even sure what that is). My guy was on Pepcid AC (1/4 tablet) which I stuck in a pill pocket instead of Zantac, but it didn't really do any good, so we quit giving it, especially because it became very stressful for him once he figured out there was a pill inside the pill pocket

As I said, there is TONS of info in the above thread, so I would start there, and there are also many, many people here who have cats with CRF who will probably pop in to offer their help.
