This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

Ouch! If your little boy is anything like my little girl he's teething right now, which may be part of the problem. When my Lulu even starts to put any human bodyparts in her mouth we move away from her and distract her with appropriate toys. She loves bendy straws, they are fun to play with and chew on.

When he bites too hard just go "OUCH!!!" overly dramatic like European soccer players, or "TSSST!" also works, followed by getting up and walking away.
May seem mean, but its normal, and in fact if he were to bite a sibling or mommy too hard, he'd likely get not just a hiss but a swat on the head as a reminder to play softer, heh.

lol if i say ouch really loud he looks at me pins his ears back even more and goes for the kill... He doesn't use his claws only his teeth and let me tell you those things are razor sharp. he got my upper arm last night and actually punctured the skin, it made me cry, which I don't do,so I will chalk that up to pms

so he went for the kill last night again, and i clapped my hands really hard and it seemed to work
, except i woke up dh in the process
,but i would rather have dirty looks from dh than pieces of skin missing from my arm.

I am glad you found a way to redirect his behavior. I am sure DH went back to sleep quite quickly after his early wake up call?

I second the recommendation of a stuffed toy about his size. My boy loved digging into the one I got him when he was a kitten.
When he bites, maybe get ahold of him by the scruff of the neck, say loudly "no" or "too much!" or "SSSSST", remove him from your flesh, put him on the floor, and walk away.
Keep a squirt bottle or can of air handy - I would use this if he ignores the first signal that he's being too rough.
Play a game of chase with him to burn off all that energy. Or, try a laser pointer or any kind of toy on a stick.
Maybe wear a sturdy shirt and/or reinforce the sleeves with some canvas fabric, plus gloves? Friend of mine played with his kitten with leather gloves on, and said this worked to teach the cat to not claw him.
When he bites, try sticking your fingers down his throat. I've done this a couple of times and the cat usually tends to back off at least briefly.
Consistently meet the behavior with something negative for him (loss of your attention, loud noise, squirt of water); he'll figure it out. Then redirect energy to another activity or inanimate target.

With our little 8-week old, she is usually so cuddly and loving, but when she wakes up and does her business, she get this burst of energy that has resulted in the shredding of both my arms and legs.
I try to re-direct the focus from my arm to a toy. Boy, I sure hope she settles down and grows out of this stage soon. I love her tho.
